You’ve seen the videos, scoured for screenshots, and poured
over the new racial abilities for the blood elves. Some of you have even played
as the new elven race during blizzcon! The mana tap and arcane torrent
abilities have you salivating but you want to play
Blizzard is certainly taking its sweet time in getting
around to announcing the
Some of the other speculate races have included the Worgen,
the Panderans, and possible Kool-Aid man! Blizzard has stepped forward in the forums
to say that these are not the right races, move along <insert jedi hand
wave>.
Let’s hear your best guess…

I hope the draenei rumors are false... the draenei would be WoW's froglok, as they are not an ugly species but rather a disgusting one. =)
I hold out hope for the Pandaren, but I guess Centaurs are ok. I hope it's not Naga.
Bleh, but I hope to God it's not the draenei.
Law of Darkspear Dec 8th 2005 6:55PM
I don't think the Draenei fit into any lore that would make them a possible alliance class.. Centaurs are a constant mount so I don't see them being added either.. The other options(Naga, Worgen) don't fit either.. So that leaves the Panderan... Either that or they are going to create a new race that hasn't been seen in any Warcraft game.

I'm all in for Pandaren. At least it gives the beasty touch to the Alliance to balance with the Tauren. Draenei would be OK too.
Marketing-wise for Blizzard, Pandaren beats Draenei hands down.
I don't think Centaur would make it simply because of clothings. Umm... they don't wear shoes.

Ok... The best new alliance race would be... Murlocs!
Murlocs have everything - the priests, the warriors, they could have great racial specials like underwater breathing. Perhaps you could use a murloc battle yell to wound your opponents sides with laughter?

It'll be the Draenai for sure. I wasn't sure until I saw that camp in the Swamp of Sorrows, but after seeing all those guys giving quests over there, there's no question.

Man I wanted to be a Panderan!
PickyPants Dec 8th 2005 2:57PM
Oh no, an ugly race?
How will you jerk it to your character's screenshots anymore?
Damn Allies.
PodMonkeys Dec 8th 2005 2:57PM
Oh, I SOO hope its the Pandarens!
Pandarens would be a great counterpart to the Tauren.
Can we all make a guess as to what the PvP Comic guild Panda Attack is hoping it will be?
Chris Gardner Dec 8th 2005 3:30PM
Panderan are definitely NOT happening.
The Blood Elves were originally designed to be an Alliance (nothing in the story leading up to the expansion mentioned any familiarity with Blood Elves and the Horde). It's rumored that much "internal strife" lead to Blizzard eventually giving the Horde Blood Elves.
Blizzard has to do something about the gross population imbalance between the Horde and Alliance. This was the proposed solution. On my server the Alliance outnumber the Horde nearly 3:1. The Night Elf population ALONE on my server outnumbers ALL of the Horde. Why people keep rolling Alliance is anyone's guess -- personally I found them way too ordinary fantasy-wise (plus, a majority of the teenager crowd tends to go Alliance -- which is reason enough for why people should be avoiding it). If we get an influx of teenagers Horde side I'm not going to be happy.

Chris - In the book that came with the game they talk about how the blood elves were driven from the alliance because of their affinity for dark magic...

Everyone keeps commenting that Pandaren wil NOT happen, and they stress it in a tone like there is specific reasons for that. Does anyone have any clarification from Blizzard, or even an educated quess as to WHY NOT?
Not complaining, just curious. Does it have something to do with real life pandas or something?
A Pandaren Hunter would be AWESOME, btw!!!

Even though I love the Pandaren, and would love even more to see them as the new race, it is very, very unlikely that they'll ever be implimented.
Why?
Well, China has a law against showing the killing of Panda's - and that includes Panda-like people. However, I know what some of you may be thinking, "The Pandaren is in WC3, and WC3 did pretty good in China!" Yes, that's true, but the Pandaren is -one- unit in the entire game, that not many people play with too often, so it's a minor blemish. If it was made into a new race, however, you'd see them getting killed just about everywhere.

how about a moose?
Jeff Dec 12th 2005 2:19PM
Pandaren would be the best!!! man you could look like a samurai from japan(even though pandas are chinese). But anyway centaurs and dranei wouldnt fit into the alliance. and since in the book of the game it says tha th blood elves were driven from the alliance. So there u have it. For the horde we have the blood elves and for the alliance we have the pandaren!!!!!

The hunter in the picture is wearing a wolf helm. I've seen this in game, looks cool... but not a new race =(
Rod Dec 13th 2005 5:26PM
The pandera were used in beta, too, to hide an un-revealed race (can't remember which one). They were also used in the April Fool's 'Pandera oriental take-out delivery service' thing.
I don't know a lot of history stuff for the Warcraft world, is it possible the 'new' race will be the Tauren? I mean they took an existing model and redocorated for the blood elves (night-elves), couldn't they do the same for the Alliance?
Cadsuane Dec 14th 2005 10:57AM
I'm willing to bet it'll be the Draenei. I think Blizzard is doing it solely for the purpose of evening out the imbalance between horde and alliance.
If you think about it, a LOT of their content in recent patches has centered around BGs and PvP. What's the main complaint though? The terrible queues you have to wait in.
The queues are a result of the fact that the alliance to horde ratio is so out of wack.
Therefore Blizzard can add in the Blood Elves, which people are already drooling over, and an 'ugly' alliance race, and you can bet there are going to be a whole lot more horde characters running around.
Just my opinion though, of course. ;)
