The gnomish airport
No, I am not crazy, there is such a thing! I received the information
from someone while I was hanging out in the game. This nameless gnome took me
on a pilgrimage through the snowy mountains surrounding Ironforge - our
ultimate destination was the gnomish airport! After about 5 minutes we finally
found a path and threaded our way through to bring you these screenshots (check
out the full spread in the flickr pool).
The tipster informed me that the only way to get to it right now is by being a
gnome! I haven't confirmed this rumor myself as I have been too busy
playing my gnome and not my night elf. Either way, it was very cool to see a
work in progress from Blizzard. There are no quests in. The flight master is
missing from the town but the Gryffons are in place and waiting for their
master.
If you play a gnome, I would highly recommend that you make that trek and take
a few minutes wandering around the place.
[EDIT] You can find the airport at 70,25 on the Ironforge map. If you open the map when you are outside Ironforge, you can see it in the top right corner, it is the flat looking spot in the mountains.

Do you have any map who show the path to go there?

Not a Gnome-only thing, I've been there a few times with my Night Elf warrior by now.

Not accurate, you don't need to be a gnome to get there, it's just a litle tricky mountain climbing through a 'bug' in the 'invisible walls' on the map. Plus, you can get to other and cooler place if you are a paladin with the use of shield, you jump off the cliff and check the farms and the incomplete tunnel down there.

welcome to like a year ago, i believe it has been there since retail, prolly even before that.

Boneyard,
Thanks! I hopped in my gnomish time travel machine just to bring this post to you!
J/K... I posted about this because it was an interesting fact that not a lot of people know about.

Thanks for the [EDIT]. Even if I play WOW since 10 month I've never been there before :)

Did you also see the endlessly spawning trolls that fight with the gaurds on Iceflow Lake near there? That's pretty cool, too.

I think some people tend to forget that not everyone that plays WoW started playing right when it opened. I just started a few weeks ago, so to me it's still like a whole new world to explore. And I like it that way, even though I don't know all the acronyms yet and I have to put up with people who act shocked when I don't know where something is or haven't heard of something. I like it when the world is new to you, and you haven't memorized all the maps, it feels more like your exploring when you walk into a new zone.

hey this is Amath from uldem (alliance lvl 31 at the moment) yes i have been to the gnomish airport. if anyone has heard of people getting on top of ironforge then the person on it should explore a little bit more and you will find that if you travel far enough there is a gnomish airport and also a couple of little towns around in the mountains. if u travel far enough north you can end up in the wetlands if you ever find out the trick to getting up there then just explore for a while. if you have a charecter on uldem just whisper me sometime and i will try to get to ironfordge and help you out.

a warning is in place though, don't get around too much on places you clearly aren't supposed to go, blizzard has banned people for doing that i believe. the airport is prolly fine, but once stat exploring unaccasable zones and such it can become risky.
Mannie the Groo Dec 14th 2005 2:03PM
Actually, the airport is NOT fine. You can't get to it without "wall-walking" and Blizzard specificaly stated that wall-walking in order to reach such places was a bannable offense.
