Renewed capital interest?
Yet another Tuesday has come and it looks to be another
patchless day :(. Several threads on the forum note that fact that they just
put up a new build on the test server just hours before maintaence
started. The rumors surrounding the patch are pointing towards Dec. 27th
or Jan. 3rd as the possible release date.
The very idea of having linked auction houses (AH) in each city has me very
excited. I am a huge fan of auctioneer and I visit the AH daily to run a scan
and snap up cheap deals to resell for profit. It has been very painful to run
quests in an area like Duskwood, hearth back to Ironforge to run an AH scan,
then fly all the way back to SW only to have to catch another ride back to
Duskwood. It will be very nice to centralize all my questing and AH activity in
one major hub city. Some say this change will not affect the level 60 players
in any major way. The lack of effect is because both Orgrimmar and Ironforge
are so close to most high level (60) instances; it just won't make much sense
to switch your hearth point.
Poor Darnassus is the city that might have been… Who in the world hangs out in Darnassus
besides Night Elves level 20 and under? They are missing mage, paladin, and
warlock trainers. The only flight path from Darnassus is actually outside the
city and only takes you to Darkshore.

Could you not have an alt just for auctioneering?
Dr.Funbags Dec 13th 2005 11:22AM
Yeah, Step 1 to not being a Nub= Get an alt into the AH - give him some bags, you now have a second bank - just mail all greens to your alt, have him check the ah for you.

There's a lot bugs on the test realm that still need to be quashed. Issues with Paladins riding kodos and people being teleported half way across the world were just some of the issues that were in the original 1.9 talent build. At this point they're (still) working out the Paladin changes, as 1.9 test essentially left them gimp.

And for extra fun and profit level your auction house alt to lvl 5 so you can learn enchanting. Then disenchant all the stuff that won't sell - like +sprit gear for instance - and then sell the shards.

I've gone one step ahead ;) My main is a miner/skinner - Leather doesnt sell well on my server (newness and all) so I send my leather to my bank/leatherworker/enchanter alt - who creates green leather items and disenchants, and disnchants any green items I send that doesnt sell.

The artisan alchemist is in Darnassus. I find myself going back there frequently, that is I will until I have 5 gold (!) and can find the Master Alchemist.

I know a few Undead who'll be switching their capital to the UC, just for the sake of being "home."

"both Orgrimmar and Ironforge are so close to most high level (60) instances"
Umm. What? Orgrimmar isn't even on the same continent as ANY of the lvl 60 instances except Dire Maul, and that's a long flight away. (OK, and Onyxia's Lair, which hardly counts because you basically spend 30 min there killing the lizard once every 5 days then leave.) Stratholme, Scholomance, BRD, BRS, MC, BWL are all at least a zeppelin + long bird ride away.
That's why many horde players bind in Kargath then use an AH alt.
Throughout a lot of beta Undercity was the de facto horde capital. It will be interesting to see if this happens again once it gets an AH.

I know i will be changing mine from Orgrimmar to UC probably. All the high-end instances (except maybe Onyxia's Lair and Dire Maul) are accessible via a single flight point. Better than the other way around...
