Word of Warcaft: Paladin

Have you ever noticed how, after playing WoW for hour after hour, you start greeting people on the street by saying things like, "Well met!" or you start making odd connections between your real life and your virtual World of Warcraft life?
Well, I don't have a Paladin in Azeroth (yet), but I had that odd feeling that the Matrix and the real world were colliding somewhat when I launched Bloglines this morning and discovered that Dictionary.com's word of the day for today, December 14, 2005, is Paladin. Definition: "1. A knight-errant; a distinguished champion of a medieval king or prince; as, the paladins of Charlemagne. 2. A champion of a cause."

I always see reflections in my daily life of the game's life.
I started a Paladin to be part of the current wave. I figure there'll a lot of interesting talk back and forth about the strategy and tactics of playing them and working the Tree.
I do think there is an interesting tangent on that interplay between RL and Virtual Life that I noticed by lvl 8 - in true historic Plaldin style, you can, on the natch, bash in the noggin of some mob - but as well use your religious belief to judge your enemy for further damage. Metaphorically anyways. Virtualy.
Heh, reminds me of real life.

I picked the Paladin class, because I wanted something like the D&D cleric. I Originally thought of going priest, except that the WoW Priest is more like a heal casting Magic User. The WoW Paladin is more like the Mace wielding, Plate wearing, heal casting Clerics of D&D, that I've come to know. It's also very much like the Avatar in the Ultima series, especially if you play it by the Ultima Virtues.
In a way the Paladin does sort of fit me. In both RL and in game, I try to be the type of person who donates and helps out those in need. I'm glad theres no 10% of earnings goes to a church, because that to me seems like buying salvation.
My personal cause is to help out my fellow people, in game and out.
