Gamestop gives Burning Crusade a release date

The eagerly-awaited Burning Crusade expansion is now listed on Gamestop's website with a price of $39.99 and release date of the 3rd July 2006--excellent news for those waiting to get their hands on it. Such release dates are often spurious and subject to change, so we might see other guesses trickling through to various retailers.
The price point is definitely interesting, being fairly close to the full WoW price. Buying both at once will burn a hole in your wallet, but so many people will be anxious to get access to all the new content that the price will probably prove no object.

pointless date just to get people to pre order and give gamestop money in advance. don't believe any date until blizzard says it's true.

Don't trust gamestop at all when it comes to pre-ordering and release dates, especially if there hasn't been an official release date announced.
They had Kingdom Hearts 2 up for pre-order back in 2004, and when I asked at an actual gamestop store the manager had no clue what I was talking about. Even he said that it made no sense.

Gamestop sells WOW new for $29.99, it's interesting that an expansion costs $10 more than the actual game. And there is no reason to allow Gamestop to invest your money so that you can preorder a game. Putting money down with them doesn't even gaurntee that you will get the product when it comes out.

Well, that pretty much gives us a release date between July 2008 and July 2009 for Burning Crusade... Blizz has always been notorious for delays on their games.

I'm shocked that they are even asking any money at all for a freaking expansion! There is no way that 5 million members, paying $12 a month, (that's $60,000,000 a year)
can't pay for everything!
Then think about how much they will make when people upgrade! 5,000,000 x $40 = $200,000,00!!!
Good Lord! If I hit a brick wall in fun by July, maybe I'll think about it, but seriously this is game development, not overpriced Hollywood films.

Right on Egoliath! These greedy pigs! Blizzard better watch out, well hell the gaming industry better watch out. With all these inflated game prices they are setting up to fall just like the music industry, who the hell wants to pay $17/CD. The music industry fat cats are all craping their pants and crying because of iTunes. Boo-friggen-ho, so thats one less summer home they don't get to buy. And then they wonder why people pirate and crack their overprices merchandise.
