Selling Characters in WoW
I confess, I'm an eBay junkie. I love to browse
around and buy and sell useless knickknacks, so when I started to get bored with my lvl 60 warrior, I sold him. This
was relatively early in the game, so I was astonished at the price that I got for him. it was almost double what I had
expected, and it got me thinking, "Someone has payed a (relatively) obscene amount of money for my character, and
they have no idea how to use him."
Playing a character up to 60 is a daunting task, and,
once accomplished, should give you a good idea of how to handle your character. Every class has nuances that can only
be appreciated if the player has spent hundreds of hours with that class. A beginner starting at 60 would be a waste,
because he or she would be deluged in items, special abilities, and talents. Not having acquired these a few at a time,
learning how to use them gradually, they would be lost. I imagine the people opening up their freshly-purchased account
and scratching their heads in confusion.
The level of competence required from endgame PVP and instance
raids is very high, and those who don't measure up are quickly blackballed, so I feel a certain remorse in taking these
people's money and throwing them to the wolves.
The other option is that an experienced player purchased the
account, which I can't even begin to understand. The majority of fun which I receive from WoW is in gaining levels, or
a "levelgasm" as I call it. Once I hit 60, the fun plateaus.
Anyway, have any of you ever
purchased an account online, and if so why, and did it work out for you?

Doesn't matter. How many lvl 60s really have a clue how to play, anyway?

I can see people buying level 20s or so because, lets face it, the beginning levels are just boring. But a 60? There's no right position to be in to do that.

I've had a 60 now for 7 months, but because of the extreme inclusiveness of the end game guilds and the relatively slow progression of my server I'm hardly geared in tier 1.
It's not fun PvPing anymore. It's not fun try to get into these guilds anymore because it doesn't matter how good you are, or if you have a good personality - all that matters is if the snobs accept your application.
Recently I've purchased a 60 account, different class than my other character, fully geared and on a great server with great people. It was worth the money for the change of environment alone. Not having to re-level, and then on top of all that go through the months of gearing up - Huge plus.
Also, I know the person who I purchased the account from, and I had no problems paying him for the time he put in because he really cared about his account - He had to quit anyway due to school.

uh? shouldn't this be under doubtful game practices or such? because it's not allowed, just like selling gold and such.

I see no problem with it at all. People , especially gamers (most) could pick up a class in a matter of days or at aleast I could. Anyway, the game gets boring even if you are doing MC and BWL like myself. That is all I do. I am only on for raids. The game sucks besides this and for what?? Gear............. oh well not everyone can win I guess.

How do you sell a character? I am just curious. Do you sell your whole account basically?

I don't really understand why this sort of thing isn't allowed. One puts a lot of work into getting a character up to 40 or 60, and that means it has monetary value. If you no longer want something that has monetary value, why shouldn't you be able to sell it? I think it's kind of strange - playing the game is what's fun, but other people have different viewpoints and that's ok.
And you shouldn't feel guilty. "A fool and his money are soon parted". If you hadn't taken his/her money, someone else would have.

Some people hate leveling. Also, getting to 20 is easy. It's those last 6-8 levels that take forever.
Considering that every aspect of this game has been converted to a grind, I don't see any difference between leveling, raid dungeons and PvP, so I don't undertsand why a person would skip the grind of leveling to get on with the next grind. Grind for XP/loot/Honor/Reputation. Skill is optional.
And when 1/4th of the participants in an AV instance are sitting in a mine out of harm's way, farming reputation, you realize this game is no longer about having fun, but about making sure your $15 gets to Blizzard every month.
I can't wait for Oblivion.

I never understand the people who talk about grinding and how boring certain levels are. Don't play the game then. It IS a game and should be fun. If you treat it like a race and less like an adventure, then it's no wonder you don't find any joy in it.
