Warlock changes in 1.9
It
has been a little over a week and I have been grinding my warlock towards getting my mount... Since I am purely
spec’d for affliction right now, I haven't seen much downside (personally) from the recent patch. I have seen a
lot of whining about the CoS/CoE nerf
on the forums. Most of the whining is geared towards the fact that
The other item I wanted to discuss was the addition of the soul shard bag - I have
mixed feelings about them. I am running with 19-20 shards on me, average now. Even thought I have more shards, I find I
still use them up at the same old rate when running solo (I don't have shadowburn, yet). I have seen a lot of flak about
the cost of the bags and the fact that they should have been a quest reward, at least for the low end bag. Ecksvee has
started an effort on Uldum to take donated components and money to make free bags for everyone - a brilliant idea! What
are your thoughts on the shard bags?
Was 1.9 a buff or nerf for warlocks, or do you not care? :)

I havent been affected by the CoS/CoE situation. I play just as well as I did before the patch with my lvl 33 warlock. I do see a benefit to the bags, but the price to get these was a bit steep. It should have been a quest item to get the smaller bag.
I love the fact you could look at the amount of shards you have at once without opening anything. This helps a bunch. I used to always not have one when I needed one:)

Do these bags replace regular bags, like ammo pouches do?

Shard bags are a waste. Id much rather use a regular backpack. that way I can sacrifice a shard for the space if i need it. rather than having a sack that can only hold shards and shards only. What should of happend is make shards stackable say in stacks of 5? or 10. I think 5 would of been better and more fair.
As for the COE, im speced in Demology so i havent see alot of change. I think the change is good though. I mean casted COE/COS then shooting a shadowbolt, and hitting for 3000HP is insane!!!! I think the nerf was good for us now for the Shamans, now they need to be nerfed And Mages need to be UnNerfed.

They shouldve added a feature to soul bags (i.e. Mana reduction on pet summon, 2% chance to gain an extra shard from soul drain. Just something to justify using a soul bag from a regular.

I am Morterage a 50 Warlock on Twisting Nether.
A guildmate made me the smaller soul pouch as soon as I hoofed it out to buy the pattern for her. She got the patten I got the first bag, so the cost didn't bother me at all.
Before the soul bag I carried about 10 shards at any given time as I didn't have Shadowburn or Soul Fire yet. I got both around around the time I got my soul bag. After I got the bag and those two spells I now keep it full at 20 at all times.
So I gave up 16 bag slots in the traveller's backpack I replaced with my soulbag. And I think I would have carried 20 shards at a time after Soul Fire and Shadowburn. So from a carrying capacity perspective, I came out ahead slightly.
But now those slots can't be used for anything else. So as I use shards I don't gain extra space for loot. That's annoying. As an alchemist bag space is at a premium. Guess I'll have to upgrade my bags as soon as possible.
I do find it VERY usefull to have the counter on the bag slot. It keeps me from loading another addon to track them.
I am looking forward to getting the bigger soul bags and running around with up to 28 shards for the loss of one bag slot.

I personally like the soulbag, agreed they could have made it with some extra feature to make it worth the 5 Gold I paid for it.
As for the CoE it is a waste to go into Affliction now, I have already respeced into Destruction due to the fact that they ruined the only useful Affliction talent.
