WoW Travel Guide
I don't know about your server, but on the PvP server where I spend most of my
time, just travelling from place to place can be
an adventure in itself. There are certain hotspots within the realms that can be extremely dangerous for a young player
to negotiate, and can make doing simple quests a nightmare.
For alliance players, particularly those of Night Elf descent, the roads between Ashenvale & Astraanar are a notorious ganking ground, with powerful players often lying in wait to prey on unsuspecting travelers. Low-level players will often form parties for travelling between cities here, as there is (relative) safety in numbers.
One helpful hint to stay alive is the WoW Travel Guide at WoWwiki.com; it's an invaluable resource that will get you just about any place you need to go in the world. Any other amateur cartographers out there, send in your travel tips...any shortcuts we should know about? Danger zones to avoid?

I'm not on a PVP server but if I was, I would probably stay away from Ratchet as much as possible, if I'm playing Alliance. Booty Bay is probably the same way with the Horde. It's weird about Ashenvale. Astranaar seems to get hit the hardest. It's one of the lushest areas I've seen in WoW and the terrain is just crazy. If you're on a PVP server roaming around Ashenvale, I would just try to avoid the main roads there. Use your map and its terrain markings to find a new path avoiding cliffs and other obstacles. If you're in your mid-20's, you should be able to make it through the wild easily enough....at least through the western part.
