AQ Overcrowding Hits Mannoroth
Looks like the Medivh server isn't the only one disabling new characters to deal
with the crowds flooding to see the AQ event; new character creation is now disabled on the Mannoroth server as
well, per this post on the official forums.
For all the wonderful things one can say about Blizzard, they tend to have one consistent failing; they underestimate their public's enthusiasm for their product. On top of all the normal server issues we've had to deal with lately, this one has players almost ripping their hair out by the ends. The forums are full of posts to the effect of "Blizzard isn't letting me do something that I pay them to let me do", which, taken at face value, is hard for me to argue with.
You know, this would be a great time for an enterprising networking firm to jump in with a truckload of servers & a nice fat contract to solve all Blizzard's problems...

"Blizzard isn't letting me do something that I pay them to let me do"
now think of it this way... You have a hard earned level 60 on Mannoroth or Medivh and you are sick and tired of extreme queue times and high latency in your own server. Lets face it, the people rolling new toons in these servers aren't being productive in any way and they simply restrict the people who are there to play the game from doing what they paid to do as well. I support Blizzard's decision to limit new chars, at least for the time being. And honestly, in the case of Mannoroth (not sure about Medivh), when you select it from the server list it says FULL anyways so mass amounts of new chars shouldn't be rolled there anyways.

that's just lame arguments from people who want to be annoying or don't see the harm they are causing. sure a few people might actually wanted to start a char there to be with friends or such. but many of them just come to see the gates open or try disrupt the game experience for the actual players there.
you could turn it around and say from a medivh / mannoroth player standpoint that with blizzard doing nothing the queue would be so long they can't play either on their server, where they do pay for it.
blizzard is in it's full right to do this and should have done it months ago. when a server is full, no one can created a first character there. yes that is annoying in certain cases, but that would have prevented the current overcrowding. just a warning isn't enough.

I agree. Blizzard should limit the number of new characters on any server that is in danger of overpopulation. Why satisfy the wants of a few whiners while slighting the dedicated and hardcore players in the realm? To say, "Blizzard isn't letting me do something that I pay them to let me do" is not accurate. It's not like there aren't other servers for people to create alts on. If you want to see the gates open, you know what to do to get it done in your own realm.

Hey for all you guys and gals who are on an overpopulated server you can always move your character for free to a new server. As long as your server is listed on Blizzard's server status as being overpopulated or full you can move your character to a less populated or new server for free. Granted you maybe leaving a guild to join a new server. Heck just continue on with that guild and start a new branch and become a new officer in charge of a new branch in the guild spread out, conquer WOW.

The number of WoW players is 5 million, greater than the population of New Zealand. Imagine if everyone of them wanted to squeeze into a single building. Just won't work.
