The problems over at the Medivh server, as reported yesterday, have apparently
become even more pronounced,
with Blizzard announcing that they are now restricting all new level 1 characters from the server, to avoid the
overcrowding resulting from players logging on & creating an alt, just to view the opening of the Gates of
Ahn'Qiraj.
The official announcement seems to have been pulled from the forums in the wake of much flaming from players, but all the resulting venom can be found on the thread located here.

First, as a Medivhian, we appreciate all the "congratulations" we've received in opening the gates first.
That said, we'd really love for everyone to come join us for the world events. Blizzard's infrastructure, however, just can't handle it. With people creating level 1 alts like "Icrashmedivh" and "Aqueueforyou", you can see how we got pretty upset. We worked very hard for this event and we'd like to see it as much as any of you.
We're asking that people apply the golden rule here. Suppose your realm was first. Would you like thousands of people swarming your server, so the people on your realm couldn't see what they accomplished? At peak last night there was a 1-hour+ queue.
Many Medivhians missed the final minutes because level 1 alts clogged the queue. I got on, fortunately, but many others did not.
We're just asking everyone to respect our wishes of wanting to see the fruits of our labor. No one is "missing content". Everyone sees the same event on their own realm. We ask that people work together on your realms, like we have, instead of being an alt on Medivh.

people have really zero reason to flame blizzard for this. keep on your own realm and work there on the opening of the gates. annoying the people of medivh or whatever realm is next is just lame.
