WoW Universal Binary for Mac is FAST
This is much
better. After this morning's patch, the
new, universal binary version of WoW running on my 17-inch iMac Core Duo is very speedy. I'm seeing between 50 and 60
frames per second consistently. That's on a 1.83Ghz Core Duo with 2GBs of RAM and 128MB of VRAM.
Who says a Mac isn't a gaming machine?
ps—I'm in the Royal Quarter of the UC on Akama if anyone wants to come sign the charter.

This is amazing!!!
I currently play WoW on my Powerbook G4 15" 1.67 with 128mb video and 2gb ram.
I have preordered and expecting my new MacBook Pro 15" 1.83 with 256mb video and 2gb of ram on Feb 19th.
Right now my Ironforge and Molten Core FPS is around ~6fps. I can't wait to see if this improves greatly with the new Macbook pro :)

Yes, but with what detail settings?

I have a similar configuration, except my company cheaped out and only got 512mb of ram. doh! WoW is running atleast 2x as well as it ever did on a g4/g5 mac though.

What's it like in Ironforge? ;)

Hey, Chris, if I ramp all the settings up to the high end the FPS drops to about 40. Tee hee hee.

Not bad. Certainly nothing to sneeze at for an all-in-one.
I have a very highend card (7800 GTX, which I also paid a lot of money for :/ ). It runs Wow at 60 fps, vsnyced, at 1600x1200 with all settings on. Looks fantastic, but you definitely pay for it.
I'm holding out until they release the Power/Pro Macs with Intel Duos. If I can use a card similar to the 7800 or the new ATI 1900 in those I might consider making it my main machine.

After some more experimenting, if I'm in a hectic area like a
battleground with the graphic settings ramped up it drops again down
to about 20.
Still fast.

Those are good framerates, but not great. How bad were they with a G5 iMac?
