Breakfast Topic: Mammoth playing sessions
As we return to work after the weekend, we face the
inevitable question: "Did you have a good weekend? What did you get up to?"The answer, for many of us, is World of Warcraft. Sure, we might have social lives too, but the weekend's as good a time as any to get in some quality WoW. For some people, though, you can't get too much of a good thing.
What's the longest WoW session you've pulled, and why? Locked into a raid until dawn? Trying to grind to 60 in one night?

Is it even possible to grind to 60 in one night? I just started this weekend, and I played a good 14 hours Sat, and another 14 on Sunday. Didn't make it anywhere NEAR level 60. Love the game though, hooked me in less than 10 minutes.

Not possible to go from 1-60 in a night. The fastest that I've heard of anyone getting to 60 was about 6 days *of game time* (do a /played).
On an alt I just rolled I got to level 20 in a /played of around 22 hours, trying to be as grind/quest efficient as I think I can. The big stinker is having to walk everywhere until you get a mount at 40 (or if you're lucky, a travel form at 20 or 30).

WakeFire, I think he meant from 59 to 60 in one night... :)
I think my longest is 8-10 hours and only because I was trapped in a group... Any longer than that is just too much for me.

I've seen people claiming certain priest grinding strats will get you to 60 in under 15 hours... still finding it hard to be true.

15-hours game time, Jackson. Not 15 hours real world time. And for what its worth getting to 60 by simply grinding without questing and thus having no reputation with any of the factions is an utter waste of time and will only hurt you in the end game.

That's probably just some people that AOE grind with a mage and priest. You couldn't get 60, but you could get pretty high up there in one day.
As far as long sessions, the longest that I have played stright were on two different occasions, one for 19 hours, and the other for 26. I wasn't do anything special besides getting an alt up both times, but I didn't want to play for a few days after each time.

I think I had my longest ever sitting this past Saturday, started around 6 PM and ended around 4:30 AM; we ran Maraudon as a guild to get some of our greener members better gear, and then the higher-end of the guild went on to Stratholme for a full Live/Undead run for over 4 hours.
Too much though, I over-dosed and spent Sunday away from the computer all day.

Week-long vacation from work. 99 hours straight. Almost made 100, but got too tired and passed out at my desk.
I spent the next week away from WoW.

Krutch please PLEASE tell me you are joking. if your not, wow just wow, i'm sorry.
Krutch Feb 20th 2006 6:20PM
I wish I was joking. I only did it to see if I could. Normally I only spend about 4-5 hours at any given time. After all, I'm not ALWAYS on vacation, lol.

15 hours ingame is still way short for reaching 60 i think.

My longest session was a day off I had.
my girlfriend was taking the train in the morning to go ses her family so I left her a the train station at about 4 in the morning, get back to my place at about half past four and then play till 2 in the morning so that's about a 22 hours of gaming :)
gg!

Funny timing.. Longest ever was 36 hours and just last night(well sunday to monday) I played 26 hours
Carnalia Feb 21st 2006 9:39AM
I call BS on Krutch. 99 hours = 4+ straight days of gaming.
You did hear about the guy in China who died after two straight days? (blood clot in his lung from inactivity).
Theoan Feb 21st 2006 11:34AM
My longest session ever would most likely be only 12 hours of contstant raids on the horde >=). I say only because compared to some of you 12 is nothing.
Polar Feb 21st 2006 7:59PM
This child didn't die because of a blood clot, he died because GOD HATED HIM. =P Well, maybe a combination of the two, but who's counting?

Oh, and as a sidenote, the longest I played WoW was on the first day I got it. It arrived at about 1 o'clock, I installed it immediately, and was playing by at least 2. (My computer couldn't install any faster.) I played from 2 PM until about 6 AM the next morning, and got a paladin from level 1 to level 13 unassisted, just by doing various quests. This is why I can't have nice things.
