Breakfast Topic: Would you trade?
An interesting hypothetical question came up in
guild chat recently. When new to WoW, you have to make a decision that can persist for months -- the decision whether
to go Horde or Alliance. I've met players who frequently switch sides, and others who have never deserted the faction
they chose when they first ran the game. What if you could switch? Trade in a level 60 of one faction for an equivalent of another? Would you do it, and why?
I'm not sure that I would; I personally enjoy seeing new scenery from both sides, levelling up through both factions. I know some players who role-play would love to, for example, turn a human into one of the Forsaken, but somehow I don't think it's a game feature that's ever going to happen.

I have started playing not long ago and I must admit that I selected the Alliance just because the characters look prettier. And recently I have entered in BG too. I find hard to believe that we are almost always (lets say around 8 in 10 times) loosing just because I am part of the team (well, I am not an experienced player yet :D). It is just an assumption, but I think that experienced players choose Horde side.

I've tried Alliance about 3 times, got bored out of my skull by lvl 10 each time, and deleted my toons. I play exclusivly Horde now, and won't even consider Alliance again.
For the Horde!

I think you'll find that a lot of experienced players at least make PvP characters on the horde side because it seems that the queues for Battlegrounds are always shorter for the horde. And of course, the only way you'd know this was if you had experienced long queues on the Alliance side.

When i started i played alliance because all my friends played and still play alliance. Yet i find the horde players, with the exception of anyone in the barrens, to be beter people to play with, sory alliance. Now i wish i could switch my dworf pally over to a turen shammy.

I'm on my second character on a new server, and I chose Horde again like last time (although I picked troll instead of undead), and the main reason this time around is because my friends were playing Horde.
But if I start again, I will probably pick Alliance, because it will be like a whole new game, at least in the beginning! I haven't seen half the game world because they are Alliance areas, and I think that's awesome.. I have no idea was Ironforge or Stormwind look like!
With some other MMOs I've played, there were no faction zones so it was only a matter of time before you saw the whole world, and it looked the same no matter what faction you were in. Growing into the world in WoW is totally different depending on which faction you choose..

I've already made the switch. When I started out, my friend who owned the game was alliance on Uther, so myself and 3 other friends made alliance characters on Uther. I would usually make a horde guy (usually forsaken or trolls) just to mess around with, but would always have more alliance guys because of my friends.
(alliance :warlock > hunter > warrior > druid)
Eventually, I got tired of the game, and stopped playing for a few months. When the desire to play came back, I made a warrior on Scarlet Crusade (we fled Uther because of the crap guilds and long queues), alliance again. Eventually, I made a druid, and started getting bored of all the same quests. I propositioned my friends to start horde characters "just to play when we all get together", and the idea stuck. Now, we're all playing horde (I'm the only troll though...), and we couldn't be happier. Other than the usual Barren's Chat and Chuck Norris references, its great.
(horde: rogue > warrior > hunter > warlock > druid)
On a side note, I just recently made a gnome rogue on SC, and I've noticed that people in the starting areas on the alliance are pretty much assholes. Whether its a priest watching me die while I try to get my defias mask, or the guy who's killing the rare spawn a hunter has been asking about for 1/2 an hour.

If it was possible, I would level up as Horde then switch over to Alliance @ 60.
Horde has better flightpaths for the 40-59 grind, but Alliance has better PVE talents for end-game raids. (Dwarven Fear Ward, Palladins >> Shamans for raiding, etc.)
On a PVP server with equal or more H:A, it can be nearly impossible to quest / grind in Tanaris, Felwood, Azshara, etc. since they are much easier to get to as Horde and therefore usually dominated by Horde.

I have tried rolling alts on horde but when you have a lvl 60 it's hard to concentrate on alts when you're expected to raid with your guild.

I played a gnome lock up to 32 before getting sick of her and looking in vain for a guild to make me feel better.
Then I saw the pally/sham switch ad on google video and actually rolled a troll shaman as a result. Never looked back. Horder is way better for BG and the RP isnt' nearly as cheesy.
FROST SHOCK!
