WoW Moviewatch: The Effects of WoW
In keeping with today's theme, a group of students from California document the effects of playing WoW for their
sociology class. Boy, high school has sure changed since my day...although I wish I'd had a LFG channel when I was
looking for a prom date...

That's hardly a documentary. It was (relatively) scripted.
I've been playing the game for over a year and it's never been about social status for me. That never even crossed my mind. I play it to have fun. Because I enjoy the Warcraft universe. I like the social aspect of being able to team up with my (real life) friends. Sometimes I group with people I don't know for instance quests but that isn't often. I usually don't play unless I'm playing with one of my (real life) friend is playing with me.
LFG for dating is an excellent idea, though.
