Character Transfers for the Well Connected?

Blizzard has always held to the premise that
global character transfers are not available due to technical limitations - which seems to be confirmed by the problems
that plague their official realm transfers. But occasionally they do things that make you wonder. Around the
time I started playing, an entire guild was transfered by Blizzard from Uther to Eldre'Thalas (where I was playing at
the time) - much to the outrage of the player-base. And on Monday, a player from Uther noticed two new unknown
characters on the server - and a quick lookup on Warcraft Realms showed
them to have been, until recently, residents of Sargeras
server. Since no official transfers are open between the two servers, this does make one wonder how they
arrived on Uther. No official word yet, but I'll keep an eye out for more news.Filed under: Realm News, Blizzard, News items

Hm, maybe it's a bug? Did you speak with a transferred players? Maybe they are testing something and the guild was a volunteer?

It's possible those are employee accounts and that they just don't want to say anything about it because then people would bug them...
I mean, you have to figure that by now Blizzard must have a pretty large employee base and I'm sure quite a bit of it plays WoW in their free time.

It's possible that there was a problem on the other server that wasn't the fault of the player that was moved? Like something that didn't result in the offending player being banned but was solved by moving one of the players involved to another server?

1, Blizzard has test servers for the purposes of testing new features. If Blizzard is testing things on normal player servers, it would explain a lot about the lack of quality service and uptime.
2, Its one thing for Blizzard employees to get free WoW access as a perk. Its quite another for them to get access to features not available to normal players.
3, Blizzard has a habit of sanctioning and/or banning accounts for minor offenses. While most people think realm transfers are a bonus, I highly doubt that Blizzard would perform a realm transfer as a punishment.
WoW Insider, instead of just keeping an eye out for more, please do some good old investigative journalism and get to the bottom of this. It sounds real fishy.
