Breakfast Topic: Hidden gems

From an out-of-the-way inn my guild
uses for meetings, to the time I finally managed to watch a race in the Shimmering Flats, Azeroth has many well-kept
secrets. How many times have you stumbled across a location or piece of scenery and wondered what on earth it was there
for? Aside from the game's easter eggs, which are
fun to track down, some places seem to hold unfulfilled potential.I've found that RP gives me a whole new outlook on these places; every one suddenly suggests several possible storylines, although I've acquired the habit of dismissing a lot of the empty-looking content by saying "oh, that's only for RPers". Do you think this is true? Are the deserted buildings and empty locations there for RP enjoyment alone, or to lighten the hearts of the players who love running around into every nook and cranny? Have you found a particular spot that surprised or delighted you?

Right after starting I found a very narrow little path into the mountains outside the starter Orc village. CLimbed it and found nothing there but a nice view of a little seaside village (which I later found out to be Ratchet). Just for a goof I jumped over the ledge into the water to be promptly eaten by some sea creatures. Eventually I made it to shore where I was promptly stomped and beaten by some land creatures. I definitely should not have been there but it was fun to look around. I ended up on the ship to booty bay and wandered around there for a while like a tourist.
I finally got bored and used the stone to port back but it was a fun trip for a lowly level 3 troll!

do you mean the path to get the earth totem for the shaman quest?

yeah he prolly means that. i do find it typical that you can pass such locations many times before actually noticing them.
i like the "secret" underwater passageway to the well on the island where you do the warrior beserker stance quest. they should have more of those things.
