New Armor Sets Revealed
Blizzard has updated
the official site with a page
for the new Tier 1 & Tier 2 Raid Armor sets, so all of you
can put down your Twinkies & go drool over them for a half-hour, or however long it takes you. Since I know this is
probably the only time I will ever get a good up-close look at these armor sets, I might just take a little longer. As to whether they're any good or not? Well, they're better than what I have....

I don't even know how to get these things. Are they drops in Blackrock or something? I don't imagine I'll be seeing them in game either but it did get me thinking about which character I should roll next. Paladins really have some incredible sets!

And how exactly are these armor sets new? They've been in game for quite some time and are seen quite frequently strolling around IF. Now if this was a sneak peak at some Tier 3 goodness from the Naxxramas Necropolis then it would be new, and newsworthy.

TheLimper, the visual upgrades are fairly recent, especially in the grand scheme of things -- plus the site update means you can now go and look at them properly. I wouldn't have known about it without this post :)

Jennie, i'm agree with you :). I don't know about it before this post

Tier 1 drops exclusively in Molten Core.
Tier 2 drops mainly in Blackwing Lair, though the head drops off Onyxia and the legs drop off Ragnaros.
Dungeon 1 (aka Tier 0) drops in Stratholme (Undead & Scarlet), Scholomance, LBRS, and UBRS.
Dungeon 2 (aka Tier .5) is an "upgrade" of Dungeon 1 and is aquired by turning in your Dungeon 1 set and doing quests.

Agreed Jennie. This is new.
Before, if you wanted to look up tier 1 and tier 2 raid armor, you'd have to go to thottbot.com and navigate through their armor sets and find each set. You also couldn't see what the sets would look like on each race/gender.
This provides a single place to find all 4 tiers of armor and preview them as well as compare them. Am I missing something or are the differences between tier .5, 1 and 2 sets not all that great? The 5-piece sets from AQ, on the other hand, seem significantly better.

I really don't like how the high end armor gear HAS to be gotten through a 40 man raid. I am in a raid guild, so I actually do get to see MC, BWL, etc... and I have a lot of my Tier 1 set and I expect to see some pieces of my Tier 2 set soon.
However, after doing the 45 min Baron run the other night, I realized that 5 man groups or even 10 man groups are far more fun than any 40 man group. In a smaller group everyone has to be on their toes and a slightly random event can totally change the play field.
Conversely, in a 40 man raid it is just a matter of mashing your one or two buttons when told. And as long as everyone does what they are told, you can down nearly every boss with only a couple of poeple dead. Our guild farms MC like that. We can clear MC in 4-5 hours and everyone gets some nice epics. But I feel sorry for the people working days and spending hundreds of gold for Dungeon 2 armor. I work a fraction of what it takes to get Dungeon 2 upgrade.
Shame...

The sets are not new. They've been in game since launch or close to it. They got new graphics but so did almost everything in the game, most recent being Tier 2.
The only thing new about this story is being able to see them on the site.
