Breakfast Topic: Home is where your hearthstone is
Travelling in WoW can be helped or hindered by the casual application of a hearthstone. Hearthing can be a
quick way to get out of an instance or cave, a shortcut across continents or even a handy thing to do before logging
off.Sometimes, though, it's annoying rather than useful. I've acted hastily and hearthed from Un'Goro Crater to Stormwind a couple of times -- the repeat journey isn't something to be casually undertaken. Fortunately, several classes -- as well as engineers -- have tricks to help with travel, from the Shaman's Astral Recall to the Druid's Teleport: Moonglade.
Where is your hearthstone set? Have you found an efficient way of getting around that relies on these travel tricks to work? My druid is parked in Stormwind, as Moonglade gives her access to Kalimdor, although the flight from Moonglade to Gadgetzan or Silithus is still a long one. On some of my lower characters, I've forgotten to set the hearthstone at all -- I managed to run a level 10 dwarf to Darkshore, but left the hearthstone near Anvilmar. Oops!

Horde wise, i would say Gromgol is the best bind spot.
Since you can reach any region of the two continent in less than 10 minutes from that point.
Orgrimmar is another option, more convenient before you get to raid ZG/MC/BWL very often.

As an Alliance player, I've found that the most central location is Ironforge, and so my hearthstone is set there. I, too, travel to Ungoro often, but thankfully that journey isn't too bad.
I find that while Ironforge isn't the nearest location to many spots that I often travel to, it certainly isn't the farthest. All too often have I set my hearth point to Stormwind only to find that I want to go to Silithus, or EPL.
Of course, when you're level 60, it makes things a bit more simple because you don't need to run to an inn anymore :) You just log out wherever the heck you want. The only times I go back to cities now are to unload goods into the AH, shop around, or join up in some BGs.

I have my hearth set to XR right now... But that was done before the destination based flight system... Whereas before, a Crossroads was quite literally a crossroads with 7 or 8 flight paths to crucial locations, now I could just as easily set my hearth to Org and just fly through XR. But I actually like the Grom'Gol suggestion, because it's a pain to run from Org to the Zep platform to get to the Eastern Kingdoms. In Grom'Gol, the inn is right under the zep platform. I'm liking it alot.

With the new flight system i realy like to use the Undercity. Easy flight to kargath and EPL but still a short zep ride to ORG. Overall i think the UC is best for everything, espeicaly the lack of lag.

My 60th level human rogue is parked in IF. My mage has his hearthstone set for GZ, since I have to make mooncloth every four days.

For my alts, their homes are where ever they are currently questing, but my 53 Pally calls IronForge home, since that seems like the best center for me. I hardly ever venture to the western continent, but if I do, IF isn't all that bad of a place to start from.

Got a NE all the way to GOldshire and was gonna hearth before logging. I forgot to set my hearthstone and ended up back in Dolanaar. Good thing i got all the flight paths =)

I used Grom'Gol for a long time, but after finishing up most of the Stranglethorn quests that I care to finish, I've changed it to Orgrimmar. I still have access to the Zeps, but with the added benefit of having an AH. I've also been questing around Tanaris recently, so while it's a fairly long trip, at least it's direct.

IF for me. I like the compact feel of the city. Everything I need to do is pretty close (Mail, smelt, smith, AH, bank)

Oh, how I love being a mage. Instantaneous transportation to SW, IF or Darnassus for my party or myself is awesome. So my hearthstone is set to wherever I'm questing and I never have to worry about how to get somewhere. In fact, I once forgot something in the bank while running Mauradon. I ported to IF, ran to the bank, hearthed to Nigel's Point, ran back to the instance before they even fully realized I was gone. It's been great, except recently, with my hearthstone set in Winterspring but a couple of quests from there requiring me to visit Tanaris, the 19 minute 22 second gryphon trip has been a bit of a drag.

I don't understand why so many people feel the need to go back regularly to the AH. Just have a mule there and mail them your stuff. If you need to compare the gear you see in the AH with your main character, just install the AddOn "Character Viewer" and you don't even need to be logged in as that character to check out its inventory (it even works with Equip Compare).
With this trick, you no longer need to set your hearth stone to an AH city ever again.

The problem with the Horde is that in Org and UC, the forge and anvil are miles away from the AH and bank, which is annoying to the MAX. The placement is better in TB, but then you sacrifice being anywhere near a zeppelin to the other continent.

my hearthstone is where i'm going to quest or fight for the most of the week
i had my hearthstone set to cenarion hold for two weeks , because i was farming and questing there
now i'm back in IF , because i'm doing BRD and start

Kargath, I can do whatever while waiting for a spot to open up for BWL and/or MC, so I can hearth whenever I am needed or my turn is up.
Mage teleports ftw.
