New Alliance race rumours start early [updated]
A source close to the E3 show floor has helped confirm our suspicions that the new Alliance race, as featured in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade expansion, will be revealed at the show. The information we got was vague, but encouraging:Looking at a video on the show floor, the new Alliance race is ugly with grayish skin, and glowing eyes similar to the Forsaken. Its chin has two things like tentacles hanging down, one on either side, and it's humanoid and human-size. There's also a huge picture of Antonidas nearby.
This seems to rule out a lot of contenders, though there isn't an obvious race that springs to mind from this loose description. It could be the Eredar, the Broken or, at a stretch, Forgotten Ones -- possibly even oddly rendered Draenei. As for what Antonidas is doing there, we'll find out more on Wednesday when E3 opens.

[Update 1 - added the Broken as a possibility, thanks Ernesto]
[Update 2 - Our informer writes, Having researched this further I am certain that the race is the Broken, the Draenei faction that remain in Outland.]

Its the faceless ones. or the Broken

Look at this picture. It is a pure, un-ugly Draeni. http://www.wowwiki.com/Broken It is gray, with tenticles on side of face. DUH. As for Antonidas, he is imprortant, (but dead, like that matters) wizard in Dalaran. And since the Dark portal is to be reopened, who better then the Dalarans, the top magic users in Azeroth?

I buy it, since Draenei rumors have been circulating forever. On the other hand, Blizz called the Broken "loyal servants of Illidan the Betrayer" on 4/17 (http://worldofwarcraft.com/news/wow-news-04-2006.html). But maybe these are rebel Broken or something?

I'd say that's probably a video of the BC mobs cause of the Brokens connection to Illidan. It wouldn't suprise me that Blizzard would have a test video playing on their screens before the show opening and keeping Alliance race one tightly under wraps.

It can't directly be "The Broken", as the Broken are specifically a NPC mob. Just goto the Burning Crusade page and look at the Beastiery
However, it can be a Dranei still, and I believe it is. Most likely they are a rogue faction that did not ally with the Broken, coming through a portal and finding the Alliance to assist them and retain their wills against Demonic influences
Just a guess :) I really hope it is. I always loved the Dranei and love the new artwork. Here is a picture of a Broken Dranei

WoW Insider, can you please confirm something? The pic there with the "?" on it, is it a cut out of whatever the race is, or a generic pic just used as a place holder? If it's generic, I can't identify what model that is from WoW
CrashZero May 9th 2006 12:48AM
The outlined/shaded model is NOT the new race. It is a screenshot of a orc from somewhere at the release of the game. The orc is wearing the wolf-head piece and those wolf claws that are in game. So dont think too much of that screenshot.

Ahms,
Its an outline of a Dranei, but my guess is its used as just a generic thing. Considering Dranei is the most plausible race, it would seem natural to choose the Dranei as an outline.
Then again, I could be wrong.

Well, I really think it Could be a different Troll tribe, antagonist to the Darkspears of the Horde... I would think that because of the Bliz comment that we would find the new alliance choice a weird one, but then later find out that it made sense in the end... And the fact that some WoW lore pointed out that Trolls and Night Elves have a common ancestry, I think that it could make sense for some less brutal Troll to make an alliance with the Night Elves, maybe for protection or something... They wouldnīt be fully trusted by other alliance members because, oh, well, Trolls have this canibalistic reputation... But this is just me...
(sorry for my lousy "brazilian" english, I hope I didnīt just trolled your comments... so to speak)

Yes, the picture is just an illustrative one. We'll bring you pics from E3 once the trade floor opens. :)
Luminair May 9th 2006 1:34AM
It's the the Broken, they're allied with the Blood Elves. The Forgotten Ones are pretty likely, though.
Lukas May 9th 2006 5:02AM
How do you even know it's Antonidas, does his name appear on the picture? My guess is that's it's Khadgar if anybody.
Kovah May 9th 2006 6:13AM
The Lost Ones are mad, the Broken are in alliance with the Naga and Blood Elves. So that is unlikely.
But Yeah, who knows. Might be Dranei, might be Worgen, or even Pandaran for all we know. All in due time my good friends. ;)

so, The Draenei tribe are called "the broken" and according to wowiki they have retained their shamanistic heritage . . . in light of the 30+ pages of comments re shaman and patch 1.11 i think this joke writes itself don't you?

I also think it's the draenei or a rival troll tribe - more likely draenei considering the link BC is to have to outland. As both Draenei and Trolls are 'shamanistic' maybe with BC allies will be allowed to be shamans and Horde will be allowed to be palladins?
Blood Elves could be paladins.
