Breakfast Topic: Game to Movie

So the recent movie rumors have been confirmed as legitimate - but how well will Azeroth really translate in a live action movie? The World of Warcraft we all know and love has such an exaggerated and cartoony style, and while I can see that easily translating into a CGI film, I have trouble envisioning it transferring into a film with live actors. Of course WoW has the advantage of a detailed world environment and history to work from, so all may not yet be lost. But what do you think - is will Azeroth be able to go Hollywood, or will it be another video game film flop?Filed under: Breakfast Topics

Blizzards commercial together with Coca-cola already features some live-action even though it's blended with CGI dito.

Two possibilities:
-The movie will not respect Warcraft Universe, It will just be another orc vs elves vs the return of the two king tower of the fellowship (wink inside :))
-The movie will respect the Warcraft Universe, so non-gamers will not understand the heck of what is going on under their eyes... A full SFX nefarian down for us, but just a dragon kill for them..
It depends on which the movies' target is, but IMHO, world of warcraft would better fit a series (like we see lot of fan art comic around the web) than a movie

CGI is the only way to go for something like that. I think something in the "Final Fantasy" style from a few years back. With updated technology surely that has to be more cost efficient now.
Take the millions you would spend on actors and put that into some good voice actors and motion capture tech.
The raids would be sweeeeeeeet.

Wow, I IMDB'ed Uwe Boll to see what all the hubub was about. - lol
I actually would prefer real characters, and I think the landscape and scenery of wow is realistic enough to be rendered without being rendered...
Honestly I see wow being rendered every time I play it, I'd like to see how they good/bad of a job they could do making it look real.
According to the first article linked by wowinsider, this movie is going to take place in the wow universe, but not be about any of the games in specific.
To me, this means a new hero or an elaboration of a minimal hero. I'd be more interested in seeing it be more specific, like having Illidan, Thrall, Cairne, some of the UD guys, Tyrande...
To me the real warcraft heroes are needed to make this movie epic/legendary, otherwise it's just another story.

I think that it would be soo cool if they mad a WoW movie, like a couple films a series almost like lord of the rings but better ebause warcraft has such a good storyline, i'd say go for it and itd be awesome to see wat happens
