Breakfast Topic: Favorite Fight
There are a lot of interesting encounters throughout Azeroth, but some seem to be more memorable than others. Certain raid bosses will always inspire players to gather around the corpse to take screenshots and display their accomplishment, but sometimes smaller encounters are more intense and exciting. One of my favorites must be the fight on the top of the temple in Zul'Ferak, where you look down to see a mass of trolls grouping up at the bottom of the stairs - and knowing you're going to need to fight through all of them to escape. What's the one fight you most remember? An instance or a wandering elite? Or maybe even a PvP kill - let's hear about them!Filed under: Breakfast Topics

Though I haven't gotten to any of the endgame instances, the fight I look forward to the most is the Temple at Zul'Farrak. The first time you look over the edge and see the massing hordes is amazing. It's also a very challenging fight, without being unbeatable.
My most memorable fight would have to be when I finally was able to take down the Princess. After several wipes, I found myself the last man standing of my party. My pet (I was a hunter) had died, and I stood a bit away from the ugly girl. She finished off our warrior and turned towards me. I kept firing as she charged. Right before reached me, one final arrow finished her off and she fell before my feet. Truly and epic finish.

On the top of my list right now is my first Drakk fight at the end of Upper Blackrock Spire.
He's this huge dragon with two smaller dragon buddies and the strat most people use is kiting him. This involved a hunter (me) shooting him and running in the opposite direction to buy time, then feign death. The hunter keeps Aspect of the Cheetah on, and has to be careful not to get hurt, lest he get killed and cause a group wipe. It's fun!

Jin'do in ZG, no doubt about it. Best fight ever.

Baron Geddon, once you've got it down to farm status and can have some fun with the bombs, it's a LOT of fun. :)

Two fights jump to my memory: killing Lucifron in Molten Core for the first time (it was the first raid instance boss I'd been a part of taking down). Getting the Gloves of Might was a nice added bonus.
A more recent and memorable achievement was downing Baron Rivendare in Strat UD. My small band of friends from high school and I, just 5 of us, took him down on the first try. What made it memorable was that we were doing it via LAN at the time, and our tank (never been there prior) figured we'd need some backup so she busted out the Mechanical Yeti (a little NPC level58 yeti that acts as your guardian for 10 minutes). We're standing in the corner preparing to fight the Baron, and the Yeti totally Leeroyed it into Rivendare! Our group quickly followed and after a very exciting fight (with some seriously close calls!), the Baron was felled. Sadly, the Yeti took it for the team LOL.

My most memorable fight was a 3 on 1, of 4 lvl 30-40 alliance against a lvl 50 horde over at Refuge Point. We had him down to 5% HP, and he takes off running. I chased him all the way back to Hammerfall only to find that everyone else had decided to drop off the chase. Needless to say, the lvl 50 took care of my lvl 40 self. Nice team work on the Alliance side. Yeay team... I did learn one thing out of it. Creating macros for spit and laugh are a really good way to annoy someone.

The most exciting and memorable fight I had was just against some elite mobs in Wailing Caverns. We didn't communicate well and ended up pulling one too many mobs, and someone attacked the sheep. All of a sudden we're outnumbered and outclassed. Everyone had pulled out all their tricks...the healthstones I had handed out saved butts all around, but only for a short while...by the end I was the only one left standing. As a warlock, I still had full health (gotta love those DOTs), so I sacrificed my voidwalker, hit Rain of Fire and aggroed the whole lot of them...my sacrifice and healthstone kept me alive long enough to wipe out all the remaining mobs with continuous RoF's. With the path safe, our healer used his soulstone and we were able to rez and continue on.
Kinda made up for the time I feared my voidwalker's target and caused a party wipe.

Well it might not have been a high level boss in the eyes of the elite, it's not in mine, but I remember going to WC with a semi-decent group of people and getting to the fight the giant everling (I think that is what it was called, it's the last boss you usually fight before the sleeping dude) , well our tank died and then down went our shammy, then, our rogue, by that point the everling was almost dead, but not quite.
Finally it was just me and a priest, *sigh* I knew this was a wipe, and the everling went after the priest, at this point I have close to no mana, the priest died as soon as that thing looked in his direction, and I was up next, I threw on my mana shield and ran, I had enough mana for fire blast(which is an instant cast), I hoped that it was enough to finish this guy off, sadly it wasn't. I though all was lost when I remembered that I had one minor mana potion that dropped earlier, I took it, and had enough mana for a fireball, I didn't know if there would be enough time to pull that off, so I said screw it, hit the fireball button and three seconds later that sucka was dead! I sat down and had some food and water as the guys ran back. I was pretty stoked at the time.

For me it was the first boss (bat boss) in ZG. Our guild had just become big enough and good enough at the time ZG was first added, and we got to run some 20 man groups there when it was still new, and we didn't know what to do yet. I had run groups in LBRS, UBRS, Strath and Scholo so many times, I forgot what it was like to see something new and have to come up with a strategy to take down a group or new boss.
We wiped like 10 times learning how she worked, but eventually made it. Quite memorable.

One of the most recent memorable kills for me took place in a duel actually. We were having a cross-faction duel off of sorts, and 3 or 4 hordies had lost to the level 60 resto druid there. I'm a warlock and was only 59 at the time and took him down. It was pretty awesome considering the pvpers there were very good ones.
One of the other most memorable was killing the final boss in RFK with only myself, a priest, and a hunter. The rest of our party had bailed on us about half of the way through, but we went on to see how far we could go. We were all levels appropriate for that instance too. It was a sweet victory at the end of a long night.

So many memorable fights, but the first time we downed Hakkar sticks out among them all -- we had made a couple of attempts on him and ended up having to reset him for one reason or another. The third attempt was going really well until the priest that was healing the MT got feared out of range and the tank ended up dying before another healer could pick it up. A third tank came in and tried to salvage the fight but we lost a bunch of people in the raid during the chaos -- we kept going and had Hakkar down to seriously 0.1% health before the last person was pwned by Hakkar. He had about 6000 hp left and there was no one left standing!!
We came back extremely pissed at Hakkar and downed him in 6 minutes with no deaths the very next try. Dropped Destroyer of Worlds -- very happy fury warrior in our guild took it. =D

A few come to mind for me. Magmadar in MC is just awesome, not nesscessarily because of the fight, but just how big and badass he looks. Just about any boss in ZG is pretty wild, the stair event in ZF, Princess Theradas in Mara (who is a beast for her level) and of course...Herod in SM, who may be my fave WoW boss ever. "Blades of Light!"

Also princess for me. The rest of our party wiped and it was up to me and another mage. Neither of us had much mana or health left. We managed to aggro bounce her twice, before we ran out of juice and started wanding her. The other mage managed to regen enough mana to chuck a final fireball at her as she closed in on me.

It would be in Astrannar, at about lvl 56 (lock), I tried a lvl 60 Horde. The first attempt I died real quick. Rezzed inside the sick girls house, buffed up and sacked my VW. With the help of about 5 lvl 25 - 30s, the Horde died after a decent fight. It was my first PvP kill.

My favorite encounter is probably the Deadmines. Starting out the game (in Beta almost 2 years ago) running that instance really took me for a loop and I saw then that WoW was going to be best game of it's kind.
I've done alot of instances including MC and AQ20 but, for overall charm and artistry, I guess the Deadmines instance is my favorite.
The single most impressive encounter though has to be Ragnaros at the end of MC. It's a complete experience.

Magmadar is one of my personal favorite fights. Being a fire mage I get to sit back at 36 yards and nuke the living crap out of Mag. I like to see all the big numbers!
Garr is also a fun one, just because of the ride at the end!

Jin'Do is such a great fight. It can be total chaos and suddenly all healers are dead and ou whipe. Next try it seems to be total chaos and suddenly he dies and you all stand there. Not knowing what you did other than everyone really focused and did their best.
Other than that, Mr Smith in Deadmines. The first time i met him was incredible. It was also the first time my gnome saw a tauren and he was frigging HUGE. Awesome memory and still a nice fight.

One of my favorites has to be the Emperor fight at the end of Black Rock Depths. Just getting to the bum is a great ordeal, particularly if you?ve never done the chambers before him where you light the torches.
You?ve killed a fire lizard, you?ve killed bunch of Ghostly Dwarves, you laid the smack-down on a giant lava monsters, and then you enter the throne room. All to your sides his ?minions? waiting to kill you. Him, in plain view from the door, sitting on a huge throne that only a dwarf could have dreamed up, the Princess at his side in a daze. And then the laughter you have to get as he downplays the death of his subordinates as you kill the groups.
The Emperor himself isn?t that much of an epic of a battle after you?ve gotten this far but at the end when you hear what the princess has to tell you?.well ain?t gonna drop a spoiler but that is what made the event PURE priceless laughter for me.

You didn't get your first PvP kill until level 56? That's a long time to go. I would think you'd have accidentally killed someone in that amount of time :)
