The PvP Grind

I've been playing World of Warcraft for over a year now, and have only recently attempted PvP. I've had a lot of fun with it, but certainly haven't spent enough time grinding for honor to burn out on the experience. This article from Not Addicted looks at what it takes to make rank 14 in the PvP grind and is a clear explanation of why I don't intend to try going that far. Anyone out there with personal different experiences on the grind to rank 14?

We have two former Grand Marshal's in my guild. They farmed rep together over many months. They had the rotation going on with their frieds. I doubt I'd ever even consider getting to rank 14, they took a full month off WoW when they were done.

There's a guy "Doomishere" (spelling?) on Eitrigg that has been going for GM the past month. He's got like 2 weeks left, and is on a rotation to play 24/7. What's weird is, he said last week he only had about 460k honor and was 1st. BG's in Eitrigg are ridiculous for alliance side. The queue times for 2+ hours is nothing but normal for AV, and up to 4-5 hours during off hours. Horde? They queue, they're in, basically. I had a really good friend that is a PvP nut, and left 3 level 60's on alliance just to make a level 60 horde that he could get to rank 14 on Eitrigg. Blizzard needs to fix something. Maybe make it based on total honor period and not based on the honor against everybody else on the side you're on for that week, just SOMETHING. So many people can get war mounts, etc. The only thing that interests me for BGs is the war mounts.
-Falice
Level 60 Night Elf Hunter - Rank 6 (92%)
Eitrigg - PvE
P.S. Blizzard can't ignore us for too long. The people will cry out.

Depending on the server, getting High Warlord/Grand Marshall can mean going on an almost 24/7 pvp grind (constant bg's and setting you hearthstone to Silithus so inbetween matches you can hearth down there and kill 60's).
While I don't want to offend any raiders, they have to understand that the pvp grind is much much much harder than going to MC or BWL to get epics, so the rewards should justify the grind. I personally dont like the system as it is now. I have always advocated for a no decay system, but where attaining levels takes an incredibly long time. This way, people wont have to go crazy getting levels, it will just take a long time (say for a hardcore player it takes a year to get enough for the highest rank and longer for casuals)

Getting rank 14 is certainly more time consuming than getting epics from raid instances. However, raiding requires a lot of tactical knowledge, group work and all the guild politics that are mostly avoided in pvp land. Rank 14 is all about time, nothing else. Someone with no idea how to play can get rank 14. Whereas you're not likely to last long in an aq40 guild if you can't pay full attention and constantly play well as a team member. You can't just grind for the stuff. I guess this is what blizzard are thinking too, judging on the gear differences.
