The Evil Children of Goldshire?

After seeing The Omen remake earlier & looking for some discussion of its lameness, I was browsing the official WoW forums & came across this interesting thread, which makes it seem like the peaceful little town of Goldshire might not be so bright & sunny under the surface. It seems that some folks have spotted a group of unexplained, evil-looking children, standing in a pentagram-type formation, appearing sporadically in one of the houses in town...because you know you can't go anywhere these days without tripping over a satanic toddler. Nobody seems to be able to interact with them, and creepy music is reported to be heard in their presence.
I've read through a ton of the over 666 posts on the thread, and I still can't figure out whether this is always in the game, or the result of an event or quest, so I'm going to go check it out myself as soon as possible; I'll report back after I investigate. As soon as I'm sure I won't get ganked for going within 100 yards of the Faire, that is...

EU-Thrall. Just rode over with my warlock, creepy music, currently five children standing in an incomplete pentagram shape, number six is missing. Tried invisibility detection to see if anything else is going on but saw nothing.

It was strange reading and seeing the kids, but everything is explained on page 14 post 265 as well as page 35 post 696, after reading those, it is not so creepy.

I cant read how they explained it yet so I will have to check when I get home (Work blocks the WoW site wtf!) But me and my girlfriend once bumped into these kiddies and it freaked the crap out of us. They just stood there staring at a wall. Every so often this little girl would swing her arms from side to side. It was verrrry eerie a la Childern of the Corn. I ran out of their lol!

Just to answer you, these kids have been there as long as I can remember. Now while I had a beta character or 2 it doesn't mean I remember that far back, but definitely for the last 1.5 years, when I got back in for the first time since beta. I explored every quare inch of everything at the beginning.

I happened upon these kids in my 20s and as soon as I saw them, I screamed in RL and had my toon turn around and blink away as fast as possible. Ever since I saw The Blair Witch Project I can't tolerate ANYONE staring at a wall, let alone 5 creeptastic kids. (As a rule, all those human kids are friggin' creepy anyway) I figured it was just a shout-out to BWP, much like the other pop culture references littered throughout Azeroth.
