Paid Character Transfer Coming Soon?
While this may be pure rumor (and I can't find a reliable source attribution anyhwere), there's a fairly detailed character transfer FAQ floating around with all the information on pricing and availibity. If this is just a rumor, someone's certainly gone to a lot of trouble to write it up with so much detail. Here are the highlights, though you'll have to read the full document to get all the details:- $25 per character transfered
- Transfers can take up to 10 days to process, during which time you cannot access the character
- Not all realms avalible for transfer (full or high population realms, realms soon to be open for free transfers, or recently released realms will not be avalible)
- Restrictions on how much gold a transfering character may have (300g for characters level 10 to 30, 1000g for characters level 31 to 50, 5000g for characters level 51 to 60)
- You may transfer from a PvP to a PvE rule-set, but not from PvE to PvP
- You may only transfer to a PvP realm if you do not have characters of the opposing faction on that realm
- You may transfer characters from one account to another only if you are the subscriber for both accounts

$25 dollars seems a bit much... $15 maybe.
Course I've been wanting a way to get my toon out of that PvP hell.

Blizzard confirmed this as legit:

And $25 is cheap, compare it to EQ where its as low as $50 as high as $100

$25 to xfer a character one time.. WHAT COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSH*T.
Blizzard incurs no cost to move characters, and I understand the need to keep people from trasfering constantly, but please, keep the first transfer free. Paying $25 for something that ought to be free because I've already invested hundreds in this game is an insult. Blizzard needs to reconsider.

free? haha, never, it should cost money and 25 dollar seems like a good price. it certainly causes work for blizzard to move a character.

FREE moving? Their workload would double if they did that.
$25 is a fair price for a service that hundreds of thousands are WILLING to pay for.

You guys are drinking WAY to much blizzard juice. Think about this--if you ask to get moved to a new table at a restaurant, do they charge you extra? No. Forget the reasoning. Maybe you like the window seat better. Maybe you want to be seated in a different group of people. The point is, it's none of the proprietor's business why or where you move. Their only purpose in moving you is to keep you happy and entertained so you'll continue to patronize the business. THINK. You guys are almost EAGER to give up $25.

Blizzard is starting to be a huge capitalism company. Lol.. paying 25$ for a character transfer? Let me give it a laugh or two. This is just another stupid way to make money. They already got tons of millions of dollars.. why would they need more? To pay the blizzard staff? I don't think they need this extra 25$ bucks... Don't you think? You better start a new character and really enter the community of that realm you were seeking for. Well this is my opinion and I know that there is a lot of people out there thinking the same thing so don't blame me :P If I need to already pay monthly fee for a game, please don't add stupid fee to other things in the game. You know blizzard team that you don't need that.
