Breakfast Topic: Moments of regret
Whether playing WoW while intoxicated, tired or simply under the weather, we all make mistakes. We vendor items we didn't mean to vendor, we destroy quest items thinking they're trash; it happens to everyone, sooner or later. One of my least favourite things to do is accidental disenchantment. It sounds hard - after all, you have to click on the Disenchant skill, then an item you're probably wearing - but after disenchanting several items in a row and then deciding to enchant a worn item, it's all too easy to click Disenchant by mistake. This happened to me, yesterday, for the second time; I disenchanted my tier 0.5 bracers rather than giving them a stamina enchant.
Should this happen to you, don't worry -- it's not the end of the world. You can get the item restored, though the European GM I spoke to warned me that this process was only available once per account. Knowing that I'll be getting some better gear very soon, I decided not to choose this option, but since the tier 0.5 quests are non-repeatable I'm stuck in tier 0 for the time being. I'm happy it was only the bracers, which are blue, and not any of my epic items -- I'd have a hard time deciding whether epics today were more or less valuable than epics I might get tomorrow.
Have you ever danced the disenchant tango? Had any other moments of regret? All I've learnt from this story is to install a "safe disenchanter" addon, and to be doubly careful when playing late at night.

one of my disenchant regret was when after several solo HT runs with my lock (bannish/enslave combo powa) I was on disenchant spree and I realise 2 days after when facing magmadar on a guild raid that I accidentaly disenchant all my Fire Resist Set!
But what I regret the most, The action I will regret all my (warlock) life was when I turn in the warlock temple quest and I choose the Soul Harvester for the look instead of taking the Abyss Shard. Now I have the staff of dominance, but there is no replacement for the abyss shard... take it, all of you, lock reading me.. take it! There is much death where I think I could have avoided with that trinket :(

I still regret trading my old simple, black epic-nightsaber for this "He-Man Battlecat" looking mount.
I once wrote a ticket, pointed to that "one restore per account"- rule, but the GM won't do it. :(

Not my story, but I once watched someone in General chat desperately asking around about how to restore their character that they accidentally deleted.
For my stories, I've accidentally dropped a couple of items, but thats about it.

I accidently destroy quest items all the time. Especially if it shares the same icon as a common grey item.
An especially noteable time, I showed up in the Blasted Lands without a quest item, had to fly back to the Hinterlands to get it, then turn around and fly right back to the Blasted Lands. So much time wasted.

I think it's good that WoW has some parts of the game that require deep thought and careful clicking. Adds a level of drama to the proceedings, ya know.
The case I can think of where I made a serious mis-click was in choosing new talents. This was pre-1.11, I'd respecced a time or two already, and 10-15 gold wasn't something I could part with lightly. But somehow in setting up the fire talents on my mage I put one click too many into Ignite, and that prevented me from eventaully getting Combustion. Silly story, but it plagued me for two months...

once per account... i think it should be at least once every two-three months

I think that while it makes sense to not allow people to overly restore gear and stuff, it is not very appealling to have it once per account. I mean these accounts should hopefully be with us a couple of years and I would consider a once every 3 months to be a more reasonable request.

My enchanter is a mage I don't play very often anymore, so I have to mail the items to him first. So far, this has prevented any major mistakes.
I wasn't so fortunate with the AH a few weeks back. We were back from a run somewhere, and I had picked up a Zealot's Blade. When I took a look on the AH, I saw they were selling for crazy gold. Not having a character it was useful on, I posted it up, undercutting all the others by a good amount. Only, in my tired state, I entered the price as silver instead of gold. It sold as I walked out of the AH..

My biggest regret: not paying attention in the bank while purchasing more storage. Didn't notice the increase in price untill I saw some gold disappearing from my account. :-(
I'm still saving for my mount...

The following revolves around two of my guildies, both mages.
Once upon a time an up and coming mage decided to spend weeks getting together the necissary mooncloth to make a Mooncloth Robe for a level 60 mage in our guild. This kid spent time waiting on the cooldowns and such, and even went to the extent of getting wrapping paper for it, before he mailed it off.
The high magus tried on his robes, wore them for about a day, and decided to put an enchant on them.
He DE'd them like an asshole.
And never told the nub.
THE END!

Well, I didn't necessarily disenchant an item or sell it but I did have a quest item stolen from me. Call me silly for trusting the other hunter but he was from a respectable guild. Here is what happened.
After waiting nearly eight Eye of Divinity drops, I finally obtained the leaf for Rhok'delar quest. Now then, feeling lucky I decided to see if the demon in Un'goro was up at the time. After searching for a few minutes, I came across Simone and her pup in what I perceived as the best area for the encounter. Wasting no time, I engaged the demon. The first try I got her down to 7% before I died. Incidentally, I would have killed her if not for the accidental click on a Noggenfogger. -_-
After the long walk back, I noticed she was being engaged by another hunter. Being the good sport I was, I simply rez'd a bit away from her and drank up. The guy wasn't even close to killing her as he was in mostly blues and greens. His was simply an alt from his guild who recently got the leaf. After he had feigned death, he sent me a tell asking if I wanted to take turns with him. I agreed since we could use each other's Aspect of the Wild while the one fighting uses Aspect of the Monkey. Of course, this greatly increased my survivability thus I was able to fell her my first try. With only 23% left, I made an effort to feign death only to have it resist leaving her pooch still munching my face.
I assumed the other hunter would help and, apparently, I assumed wrong. Before I could say a word, the other hunter looted the head, /rofl, and hearthed. I was left speechless to die at the hands of the demon dog with no chance to loot Simone's head. After I died, I immediately PM'd the guy asking him why he did that. He merely responded with a STFU and put me on ignore. I attempted to take up my dispute with the guild master, but again I was met with ignores.
My last attempt to rectify the situation was to talk with a GM. The GM told me that he would be able to give me the item IF both I and the other party agreed to do so. It would also end up using my one-time character restoration, which he advised "would be silly." In the end, I was left headless and distraught. Of course, I finished the quest a week later with the help of my guild. As for the other guy, his guild is now dead and I haven't seen his character in a while. Interestingly enough, I wonder if it had anything to do with certain horde despawning his demons every time he tried to do them. ;D
