Mid-Midsummer Fire Report
Well, the festival of Midsummer Fire has been going on for a while now, and I have to admit, I basically forgot about it after about a day...Oh, I took the quests to seek out the fires throughout the lands, and I did get that really nifty Cinder Elemental that saved my butt a couple of times, and some nice experience, but all in all, my opinion on the event so far has been...blah.
For one thing, I'm tired of Stormwind looking all dingy & smoky. This is one of the reasons I stopped spending so much time in Orgrimmar; the air is almost thicker in the game than in my room...and that's saying something.
What about you folks? Have you enjoyed the event so far? Should Blizzard make this an annual occurrence? Chime in...

Pretty sure the dingy and smoky look around the capitals is due to the Scourge invasion, and not the Midsummer Fire Festival.
But yes, I've pretty much ignored it, but then aside from Valentine's and Christmas I haven't really seen much point (Aside from some xp) in dealing with the holiday events.

I think the only events I really enjoyed were the Christmas and Lunar Festival events. The rest are half-baked ass thoughts thrown in the game.
Now if they had different dances you could obtain or something like that. I say dances because Japanese fire festivals usually include a lot of dancing and singing. I think rewards like that would be sweet, I don't know if it would be possible to implement though.

Yeah this event wasn't remotely appealing to me. I couldn't even get myself to visit all the fires in the major cities. I don't mind it tho. Can't blame blizzard for trying to add some flavor.

Yeah... the tainted air and foreboding rumblings in the capital cities is the result of the Scourge Invasion event. These effects were in place days before the first signs of the Midsummer Fire Festival appeared.
But to answer your question, I loathe both events. The fire festival for basically the same reasons you cited and the Scourge Invasion because all of my characters are mid-level. And as such none of my characters is given a single event related quest (with the exceptionally lame "wait for the 60's to kill the Pallid Horror, talk to the crystal and get a lame item I can't use" thing).
So yeah... I can't stand either of em. On one hand though, I do give Blizzard props for trying. Anything is better than nothing, and the Necropoli look way cool... but dammit I want to kill Scourge too!!

I had a lot of fun. I didn't get a chance to get the spirit of summer pet due to not being able to find instance groups, but I enjoyed it. There were lots of shenanigans on the 4th and people running around in the shoulders and crown. The festival are fun and an easy way to make some gold and get random fun items.
A+

Both events were a waste of time. I LOVE the idea of world events, but the Fire festival was boring, and I don't have a 60 who could participate in the scourge adventures (SAD!!!).

What happened to the rep? I did these quest since the usual event based quests and stuff give Horde rep (good for all major cities) and I'm working hard to get exalted with Org so I can get my Tauren his wolf.
On the other hand, the Toasted Smorc is pretty good, but I really did it for the rep!
What happened here Bliz?

I didn't try the mid-summer festival, but the Scourge invsaion is pretty nice (even if it's going to be a bit too long, some places are no longer usable by mid levels (Blasted Lands everyone?)

I got all the flames apart from the opposite faction ones and the ones in the instances... what did i get ? a 2 armour bracer and a 2 armour shoulder set... wow. what a waste of time that was !
Scourge invasion, imo, just makes the place look untidy. it's hardly an invasion when 1 level 57 skeleton wonders into Stormwind and gets wiped out... that's not an invasion !
It ruins the game for the mid levels. Hard to do anything in EPL/Azshara/Tanaris now. Probably one of the worst implementations of a World event I've seen. So much so that i've actually played LESS since 1.11 than i have ever done up until the patch.
