Some Handy Gold-Making Guides
I'm always hesitant to post links to the various gold-making guides on the net, simply because manyt of them are on questionable sites, seem to lean towards straight-ahead farming, or if they are legitimate (i.e. don't advocate exploits or other shady behavior), still aren't really all that useful to the everyday player who wants to make gold legitimately as they play the game, not neccessarily to the exclusion of everything else. I have found a couple, however, that I think are pretty handy. For beginning players, this guide posted recently over at societyofgamers is something I would have really liked to read when I was just starting out in WoW. It's very basic, and isn't anything a seasoned player wouldn't be able to tell you, but for newcomers to the game, it gives the basics of the major professions, the auction house, and other scources of income & gives a few helpful tips about each.
For more seasoned players, another handy guide is Cthulhu's Gold Making Guide, posted over at Allakhazam. It's semi-Horde-centric (that's a hyphen-hat-trick, by the way), but it has some really useful tips for specific areas & quests that will allow you to rack up some loot. I used this one a lot when I was leveling my first character.
Have any of you come across any useful guides or perhaps written your own? I'd ask readers to send in their tips, but nobody ever wants to give away their gold-making secrets. Lousy capitalism....

Our guildies have been making a decent run with Arcanite Bars... if you're an alchemist you can buy the mats on the AH and then turn around and sell them for a nice 10g profit (of course YRMV)... that's not shabby. Once you get that high you also no longer need herbs, so you can drop herbalism and pick up some other trade skill (maybe mining or skinning for increased financial input).

I've been having some good luck buying out rare(r) recipes and selling them on the AH for fun and profit. A good place to check is Booty Bay. Buy out the rare recipes for around 20-30s and then you can usually get 1-2G for some of them. You may have to relist them a few times, but you usually still come out way ahead.

All you really have to do is plan some form of income to begin with. If you want to take tailoring, take mining with it so you can finance your tailoring with metal and stone sales, and then when you hit 300 you can keep the money. If you are mining/smithing or skinning/leather or herb/alch then just selling cloth will help a great deal, plus you can sell spare mats you don't need for your crafting profession.
Also some professions just lend themselves to moneymaking, Mooncloth transmutes come to mind, and before this latest patch Alchemy used to be HIGHLY profitable with Arcanite Transmutes, but it seems the lvl 60s need the arcane crystals to get into Timesink Caverns, so it's not profitable anymore on my server...

well i dont generally grind for money beacuse as im still lvling i make plenty as i go. I have mining and blacksmithing and there are far better places for both iron and mithril but since ally scum may be listnin i can tell(sorry guys im pvp. Anyways to make money ive found you can test your characters limit and go farm the highest level instance you can manage. Im a warrior level 57 and i caqn happily do uldaman tho ive not needed to but at around 50 i did farm sm and found that library gave the best rewards due to the amount of chests tho armoury is also good. If u were an enchanter you can disenchant all the bind on equip blues and sell all other blue/green drops in the ah.A handy tip to speed up this process is ill find a priest or resto druid at around the lvl required to do the instance maybe a few lvls lower that way they can do the quests and heal me when needed for less downtimes and if they only heal when needed(not very often) they can regen what they use 2 heals so no stopages. Theres probably more tips i cud share but im not big on posting jsut felt it may help sum hrde out there get those better items to help spank those allies.

I finally got the hang of the WoW economy when I started on a new server about a month ago (Executus).
I have gone from having level 45-60 characters (toons who never have more than 15 gp to their name to a level 45 Druid who has AH purchased equipment better than anything up there at any given moment, a mount, and 250 GP sitting around to spare.
At level 46, and after a day of grinding the appropriate area, my auctions net me anywhere from 25-50 GP overnight. Of course, in the beginning the daily take was much lower, say 1-3gp a day, but at level 10, that is not too shabby.
How do I do it? Simple. I mine and I skin. I sell EVERYTHING at the AH for 1 sp or 2 sp cheaper than the competition. If there is no competition, I find out what the vendor will buy it for and I mark it up 300% -450%, depending on the stats.
The rules for boosting up prices on items depends on two (2) factors: (1) is it in twink range, i.e., will a twink want it: lvl 19, 29, 39, and 49 gear fall under this category. They represent the best gear a twink can get in that particular battleground, e.g., 10-19; 20-29; 30-39; and 40-49; and (2) are the stats desireable, e.g., leather gear with +STR and/or +AGI and/or + STAM is a feral druids dream. Casters like +INT and/or +STAM and/or +SPI.
If an item doesn't sell (like that blue BoE you've put up for sale 12 times, be patient - it will sell. IT ALWAYS SELLS. You'll figure it out.
Get big bags; fill up, and hit the AH 2-3 times a day. This method works so well, I literally get up in the morning and look forward to checking my mail. After that, I grab the expired items and repost them so I have something to look forward to at lunch or at the end of the work day when I check again. Then I play at night and list all the items again.
I recommend you get Auctioneer with Enchantrix and Equip Compare to make your life easier. But don't always go with their recommendations. They incorporate the occasional jerk that puts 10 wool up for 90 GP, which skews your data. Good luck and go get rich!
If it works for you, drop me a line on Executus, my main is Trestles.
