Blood Elf and Draenei Classes Revealed

While there have been unofficial announcements on the classes that would be available to each of these new races, it's only today that we've gotten official word on what each race will be able to play. So, with the release of the Burning Crusade, new Draenei players will be able to choose from warrior, paladin, hunter, priest, shaman, and mage options, while new Blood Elves will be able to pick from paladin, hunter, rogue, priest, mage, and warlock. The biggest surprise here is that Blood Elves won't be able to be warriors - a surprise since the preliminary information on the subject suggested that they would. CM Eyonix tells us that they simply wanted an equal number of classes available to the Draenei and the Blood Elves, so one class had to be cut - and the class that made the most sense was warrior.

So blood elves can be paladins but they can't be warriors? Kooky
gill Jul 31st 2006 11:24PM
Same thoughts as limerick. No warrior class? *boggle*
paul Jul 31st 2006 11:39PM
I think this whole faction switching idea is stupid.
Bullcharger Jul 31st 2006 11:50PM
I have had it with the alliance favortism...I really wanted to use a blood elf warrior. The warrior is a basic class for all races and guess what the horde had to be the first to not have a warrior class. Humans and Dwarves are pallies and can be warriors. So you know what take out the warrior class for dranei. Seems fair. For Bloodelves take out rogues or hunters. Warriors should stay. I bet its because of the bloodelf racial. I dont want to see elf rogues running around all over the place. Stop it. Please change this for those who are considering using a blood elf warriors. Its dumb that you give the dranei everything...Warriors,pallies and shamans. The horde always get the shorter end of the stick. I cant wait to see what happens in the expansion.

Hey Bullcharger.
Stop crying.
Bullcharger Aug 1st 2006 12:23AM
Crying? I'm not the one making a mockery of this game. Everything changed since this post http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-dungeons-en&T=83548&P=1 so they decided instead of fixing shamans they gave paladins to Bloodelves and shamans to draenei.Plus adding there stupid story for each. Now they took out warriors and once again changed there story. This game is way to unbalanced nothing is original anymore. Let me guess your name is "Queer" Qfor short huh. So whose crying now.

@ Bullcharger: While I personally think Blood Elves would be more appropriate having warriors than hunters (a little too ... prissy for that), I hardly think the Alliance is favoured.
I can already see Blood Elf pallies running into the pvp melee, bubbling and then busting out an AoE silence. Casters are supposed to be the warrior's bane, and a warrior with Shield Bash, Pummel and an AoE silence would be a little disgusting. Or even just a Blood Elf rogue who opens with an Ambush/Silence. For the first time in Mage history, they *may not* be able to blink away to safety. But a Draenei warrior, pally or shaman that can cast a HoT on him- or herself(2 second cast, mind you)? Damn that's just overpowered.
And please don't try and argue that the Undead racial is somehow NOT the strongest of all the racial abilities. Because it is, hands down.
I don't mean to be offensive, and I do think that warriors *would* be more fluffy than hunters as a class for Blood Elves, but I can see why they would opt not to let them be warriors.

Im not happy eather... What did I want? Goblins tinkers, undead Death Knights, Orc Blademasters, Dwarven Brewmasters, and chain lighting enchanted witches with totems made of horde baby skulls.
But What did we get? More Fricking elves, and big ugly blue smurfs. You heared it hear first, the Draenei racial slang is Smurf! So use it well, and use it offen on the big ugly smurfety smurfing bastards!
Groupie Aug 1st 2006 2:37AM
please stop crying, everyone obviously misses the whole point that what used to be faction specific classes will now be cross faction. so with in a 40man raid...
what exactly are we looking at as far as group setup and such?
Will shammies even be able to run in alliance raids because pallies so own them in pve ?
Coanunn Aug 1st 2006 8:03AM
@Groupie - Frankly I could NEVER have been happier than when I heard Smurfs were getting Shammy.. they will become the most over played race/class in the Alliance opening up more spots for my rogue as all the FotM kids change. It will be so nice to not have to overcome the 500,000 12 year olds who have ruined the reputation of the only class in the game I truely enjoy playing as.
@Horde whiners - Suck it up. You can get to level 40 and NEVER leave uncontested territory (I have a guildie who actually pushed that to 42 as she hates open world pvp). You have the best racial abilities in the game for pvp and most of the best for pve (sorry but rep bonus and +5 weapon skill which coupled with items negates damage reduction on glancing blows is UBER for pve), Oh and if you check out most servers, the bg's are owned by the horde. I have seen a few servers where the alliance are excessively dominant, but we'll say 70% of the server see Horde dominated BG's.
I played horde ALOT, and love the horde and NEVER considered the alliance equal to a horde player and still don't. My guild voted and changed sides to try to fix that problem at least on our server. Yes I think the Horde work a little harder for somethings but it pays off in the end in spades.

My God, get a dictionary! Reading your comment was like a punnishment. Try "heard," "here" and "often." Jeeze.

I'd suggest you follow your own advice.
"Punnishment," indeed.
pun·ish·ment

Get it? Pun-nishment? Oh wait, that's just another misspelling. Pot, kettle, black ftw.
Molnek Aug 1st 2006 12:55PM
I find it annoying that people keep saying well the horde are great in PVP so everythings fair now, and the comment that horde doesn't have to leave uncontested territory until 40 doesn't matter if you suck in PVP don't play on a PVP server I'm on Dark Iron and the only thing I've ever noticed in BG is that both sides have twinks every now and then but for the most part everything is pretty even, as a shaman i get ganked by everyone the second they see me just as we all gank the pallys I think things are good as it is why didn't blizzard just make NEW classes instead of giving the new races the opposing factions special class
cheezedog420 Aug 1st 2006 4:05PM
@9, Im sorry, but it was going on 1 am when I posted that... And besides which, I tend to prefer draw out my idea's over write them out.
As for the topic at hand... Im not say that the factions where imbalanced to begin with... but now that we are getting Burning Crusades, I hope (in vain) that the complaining will stop.... Yea, right people that like to complain, will always find something to complain about.
As for what I meant by Goblins tinkers, undead Death Knights, Orc Blademasters, Dwarven Brewmasters, and chain lighting enchanted witches with totems made of horde baby skulls. Those where my suggested solutions to the supposed imbalances between horde, and Alliance factions.
Goblin Tinkers = just giving the Horde a nice engineering race like Alliance has with the Gnomes...
Orc Blademaster = potential paladin for the Horde probably not work out too well since a blade master could be just as easily created with either a fighter, or rogue template.
Undead Death knights = A good idea because anything a human can play, a undead should be able to also, right? Of course, that would mean the Death knights abilities would have to change to be unholy since most paladin abilities being holy are meant to be used against the undead...
Dwarven Brewmasters = the second best origonal idea I had for bringing Shaman to the Alliance. (Of course, it mean instead of throwing down totems, and casting chain lighting.... the brew master would go dropping ready to explode beer bottles, and cast Drunken Haze with Breath of Fire in rapid fire succession....)
In case, it unlikely any of this will be seen by Blizzard, and fun as might be to play a drunk dwarf constantly littering the Wow world with exploding beer bottles, or such... Its only another idea to a none existent problem.

Blood elf warrior made less sense to drop than blood elf hunter? What part of 'elves rebelling against their druidic traditions to develop exclusively arcane/corrupt routes to power' says 'put me in tune with nature and give me a fluffy kitty to follow me around'? Oh, it must've been the Spell Breaker unit from WC3, with its ranged attack and huge tank pet. :P
Dia Aug 12th 2006 3:49PM
Well, would have been nice to seen druids on an other race, besides tauren or night elves. Oh well.
Ismand Sep 13th 2006 2:03PM
It comes down to this:
There are generally more alliance players than horde players. Horde wanted a good-looking race. They got Blood Elves. In my humble opinion, we should just give the horde bastards GOBLINS! Yeah you heard it. We are stuck with little ugly gnomes - it would only be fair that you had some green lil runts running around. Instead we get the "honorable" Draenei... BAH... It's bootlicking from Blizzards side. Elves were originally part of the so-called Alliance. Yet somehow Blizzard managed to twist the story so the horde whiners can get a "pretty" race and alliance can get another ugly race.
On top of this I'm probably making a Draenei just because I need a shaman. Why would I need a shaman? Because the class was made for pvp. With their overpowered abilities and Stormstrike spec (now known as the I.W.I.N.-button) they can kill a poor druid like me in 2 hits. Sure I can try to run and they can try to spam frost shock, and the only outcome will be that they either kill me from the frost shocks (Yeah that's right, those shocks can crit for 25% of my hp) or I get away with - you guessed it - no honor whatsoever.
If you want to whine - play a druid. NEVER EVER whine about Blood Elves, because as I heard it, they're getting UBER spell breaking abilities.

dude stop crying ... if anything needs to happen... shamans on the horde side need to be nerfed... so stfu
zomgwtflolz Sep 20th 2006 10:03AM
blood elves get all mana type racials/passive so....having warrior with that crap would suck so much...if anything draenei needs to drop mage class to fit the "holy" theme and lessen the major classes for them
