Breakfast Topic: What Will You Play in the Burning Crusade?
For quite a while, I'd been planning to create a Blood Elf warrior when the expansion came out. Something about these fragile-looking elves being heavily armored warriors amused the heck out of me. However, with yesterday's announcement of official classes available to the two new races, this apparently won't be possible. Now, I'll probably end up rolling a paladin - with their access to plate armor, it will be the closest thing to the warrior of my dreams. And now that the classes are finalized, what are you going to be doing on the expansion's release date? Leveling your existing characters up to 70 immediately, or jumping into one of the new races?Filed under: Breakfast Topics, Expansions, Draenei, Blood Elves

I will definitely start playing a Draenei shaman. I have played a troll shaman before but I have missed the Alliance side too much to spend much time playing the troll. I like the shaman class, and I feel it is a class that suits me. But, having 3 lvl 60's already, one being a priest, I don't think I will put them away to make the shaman my main character. My priest is the main healer in the guild, and I can't let the guild down that easily, also I enjoy playing a priest and I am looking forward to finally (perhaps?) being able to go to the high-end instances that I have never got the chance to go to before as I can now increase my level again. My new character though will still be part of the same guild as my 60 rogue and 60 priest, so I can keep track of what is happening in the guild. So, to cut this short, I will get right onto making a new character, but I will not give up my old ones. :)

While Eyonix might be speaking the truth, I'm hesitant to jump on the Oh God No bandwagon. There's still some time out before the expansion is here, and changes can still be made. Not that anything the buying public says will change their thinking. I'm sure they'll do what's best for the game, and we'll adapt just fine.
I'm actually a little shocked by how many people wanted to roll Belf Warriors. Were Spellbreakers really that cool? (Spellbreakers, as I recall, will be the NPC guards of Quel'Thalas.)
That said, I have a vast cache of toons on Cenarion Circle. When the expansion comes out, I plan to be an Draenei Paladin, and stack buffs with all the Draenei Shamans' totems. While on Horde, I plan to be a Belf rogue, and try that AoE silence trick while stealthed. That, and I want to use their superbrains for engineering uberweapons for the Horde.

Ahem.. I'll be playing my main. I'm not exceptionally taken with either of the new races, though I couldn't be happier that the ranks of Nelf Rogues and Hunters will thin and the over population of rogues will dwindle a bit as people run to the Smurf Shammy and Belf Pally!

Blood elf rogue. Can't wait.

I had also planned to roll a Female Blood Elf Fury Warrior... Sigh... I don't really want to roll a BE Pally... Maybe a Rogue instead. I think I'll be spitting on any Pallys that show up in the major cities; until I roll one. I hate the cross faction Shammy thing, but I might have to roll an Alien Shaman now.
I really do think that the Blizz devs get some of their ideas of crack smoking monkeys.
Viva La Horde!

I like the looks of the Smurfs and may consider a one-night stand with the Alliance. However I have the feeling my Troll warrior will be beckoning me to reach 70 and get a bad ass flying mount.

BE warrior....not happening...I probably wont pickup the Expansion at all....its falling way short of what I expected after 2 years of WoW.
New classes hello? sheesh......really this expansion falls short tremendously with me.
Vanguard or Warhammer is where im moving now for sure.
SO very disappointed.

If according to Blizzard, Blood Elves are addicted to magic, it kinda makes sense that they dont have more than one mana-less class. I dont understand what the big deal is.
Domenico Aug 1st 2006 2:42PM
Either a Draenei warrior or mage. Either will benefit greatly from the HoT racial cutting down time quite a bit. Plus the look great in either plate or cloth.
warforge Aug 1st 2006 4:03PM
The big deal for me and surely not everyone is I have been playing this game since launch.
I have 60 hunter,rogue,mage
Rerolled every class but a paladin (refuse to play alliance period). And leveld and deleted so often i should have a 60 of every class.
There is ALOT of folks like me out there ...and simply raising the cap, adding some land few instances, and new faces IS NOT enough.
I expected new classes, more tradeskills, housing/guild housing, and way more land than what they are bringing.
Why would I want to roll another mage, rogue, or hunter? Ive built them up into epics now....im not repeating the same old crap again.
And im very sure others feel the same way after 2 years.
Too little for 2 years worth of gaming.
DAOC expansions introduced new races and classes for each realm (3 realms in all) all different in Shrouded Isles.
FFXI expansion introduced several new classes such as ninja and samurai for example...and others
EQ2...so many classes you can never pick a main.
The point is that this falls way short from my expectations and friends for 2 years of waiting.
I am saying I want MORE damnit. Not that there is anything wrong with what they are bringing..but crap I expected a full meal outa this not a snack.
warforge Aug 1st 2006 4:11PM
correction
eq1 not 2...part 2 had so many classes they didnt need to add more.
Brian Aug 1st 2006 4:21PM
Me? Oh, man, I am going to play a gnome! They rock!
Ernesto Aug 1st 2006 5:32PM
Me im going to lvl my Paly to lvl 70, Explore the new HUGE land that some of you are complaining about.
if you say that this just does not cut it stop playing the game for a while damn, take a break from it or quit simple as that.
warforge Aug 1st 2006 6:45PM
whats the point of "discussion" if you dont want to hear an opposing view?
Wana chat with like minded people who agree with everything you say? Borring....may as well just log off and dont reply then.
But your stupid suggestion if you dont like it quit isnt a productive way of discussion on a site meant for discussion or a good use of intellect at all if any is even there.
Urthona Aug 1st 2006 9:07PM
Goodness. Namecalling. Tsk Tsk.
Let's NOT call each other stupid over the suggestion that a game is merely a game, and that fresh air is nice too.
In fairness though, warforgie, I'd be interested in some creative criticism, the kind that doesn't outright complain, but rather suggests alternatives to the impending outcome.
You want more classes? Like what? Bear in mind the roles and responsibilities of the classes already established, and the potential problem of expertise overlap. Would a spellbreaker be a plate wearer with anti-magic buffs? DoTs?
What other things might be more "acceptable" to your wishes?

Neither...I'm quiting. The game has gone to a point where I'm the metal ball between 2 magnets. My experience with wow will never be forgotten. I had fun with my family and friends with this game up until Ahn Quiraj invasion. Since then everything has changed instances, patches, talent trees, and so on. With the expansion I will guaranteed that no one will get anything out of it because everything is going to be impossible to obtain unless your in a 40 man raid. Plus with the new races they are the worst things to come out in this game. Especially with the changes classes. Won't they make up there minds.
I would have done better. At least add 8 new races 4 for each faction. Come on don't be cheap. Blizzard has earned close to over 500 million dollars on the 2 years this game has been out and all they do is create a copy and paste character for horde and take there time on alliance to create the dranei. Neither race is worth playing at all. Theres is going to be so much fighting when this game comes out because everyone is going to want there gear for there new races and people are going to come up with excuses not to help them because they want to raid the new instances instead and do whats best for them. LOL i can't wait to see the madness.

Considering that you develop a whole new game from scratch in two years Blizzard's effort at an expansion for WoW is disappointing on so many levels.
They copped out (meaning "took a short-cut") giving the blood elves to the horde and Draenei are just slightly modified Taurens.
And new classes?? There are none.
It makes you wonder what Blizzard is doing with the 6,000,000 ppl x £18 subs x 12 months worth of revenue.
Clearly they want WoW to end relatively soon because there really isn't anything new here.
Deafdumbandblind Aug 8th 2006 7:32AM
...and another thing - How much xp will it take to get from 60th lvl to 70th lvl??
Did you know that it takes as much xp to get from 50th lvl to 60th as it does to go from 1st lvl to 46th lvl??? (~1,780,000 xp)
Going on that basis then we can expect that you can expect that the total xp required will be around 6,600,000!!! That means you 60th level ppl will need another ~2,600,000xp to get to 70th!
Thats like going from 1st level to 52nd level! It's ALL about keeping you online and paying through the nose.
Can't wait!
