Hardware upgrades update

Everyone's favourite whelp/CM Eyonix has posted an update on the status of new hardware upgrades on some of WoW's older servers.

In preparation for the arrival of the Burning Crusade expansion, Blizzard is in the process of buying and implementing spiffy new hardware (genetically enhanced hamsters?) which it plans to begin installing after all the new servers have arrived in approximately four weeks.

Eyonix says the new hardware will double the current processing power of the current system which will significantly improve game performance.

If you are on an older realm that has not already been migrated to new hardware, you can expect extended downtime while the switchover is being done, as well as some temporary fixes to tide you over the next few weeks until the process begins.

Looks like Blizzard may be putting some of those increased revenues to work after all.
