Transfers to Bloodhoof? WHAT?!
On November 23, 2004, I created my very first WoW character on the Bloodhoof server. I made a Night Elf rogue (go figure...what a noob!) and played happily. After a while, I saw the light and made a Troll Priest (not undead?...what a noob!), joined a good guild and truly started my WoW career. The server was never really what I would call wonderfully stable, but at least it didn't crash nightly and the lag wasn't that bad. I recently left Bloodhoof, and have heard nothing but horror stories about how the server has become even more unstable after I left, complete with constantly high pings and nightly crashes. Coincidence? My ego would like to think so, but I suspect it has more to do with a high player population on an old server still running the original hardware. How does Blizzard respond? They open up transfers to the Bloodhoof server! You can imagine how happy that is making the folks on Bloodhoof, and I can't believe it is the only server who is facing this situation. I am totally down with Blizzard, and have loved every moment of WoW, but this seems like a really, really bad idea. But hey, who am I? If you said some dork sitting at home watching Will & Grace on Lifetime, you'd be right!

I believe server stability has alot to do with what other servers are on your "cluster". My server, Smolderthorn, was opened up to transfer a few weeks and ago and almost immediatly we have had rather large stability issues all culminating with a 9:30pm est. lag bomb every night. We did have several guilds transfer over (suckers paid $25 for no lag improvement) and that must have some effect, but I really don't see that much of an overall server population increase as we are still at "medium" at peak hours. This leads me to believe that many people must have transfered to our general cluster of servers, especially from the west coast. 6:30pm pst seems like a time when generally alot of raiders and other adults would all log on. Nothing else can really explain this other than a general curse from server transers.
ps. Go Home!

Bloodhoof is not the only one. I'm on Burning Blade (the US one, not the EU one). Burning Blade is a day two server, and as such, the hardware is OLD. Well we deal with horrible lag, and between 6pm and i'd say 1am, the lag is getting so bad, raiding is getting to be a chore.
In the past 2 weeks we have had a few big guilds leave, including Forgotten Heroes, one of the best in the world, due to the lag problem. If you have been checking the wow general forums, the community of BB has started, I think we are up to the 8th or 9th thread of how crap the server is getting.
Blizz in their infinite knowledge that we mere mortals can not fathom, have opened up transfer to burning blade. Now, if someone is crazy enough to transfer to the server, the lag will be there, the queu times will be there, and the angry community will be there, all waiting.
I somehow think now that blizz wants to force everyone to pay them the 25 dollar transfer fee to get off the server out of frustration, and then once everyone is gone, they would just replace the server and charge another 25 to move back to a new and improved server. I say they are pretty much spitting in our face.
