OMG Purple!
There is an interesting thread on the official WoW boards entitled Your First Epic, which is generating a lot of responses as people recount their first taste of purpley goodness. Most people tend to not see an epic item until they hit 60 and start hitting raid content, although there are a few low level epics to be found in the world.
Personally, I was lucky, I got my first epic at level 55, I remember the day well. I was questing in Burning Steppes, looking for Blackrock Medallions I recall, and I killed a Blackrock Worg that dropped a Hurricane bow. Needless to say everyone in guild chat heard about it instantly and the item got linked to all who were not there for the momentous occasion as soon as I saw them online.
Unfortunately, the Hurricane is a pretty weak epic by most standards, but at the time it was quite thrilling, not only to get an epic but one I could actually use.
The thing goes through arrows like crazy but I still have it, though I don't really use it anymore. Of course I have many more epics now but that one still stands out in my mind.
Anyone else have a fond tale of their first epic moment?

It was a Krol blade. Back when you could dupe items, we copied it about 40-50 times, and ended up making junder about 25k gold selling them.

Welp, got my first epic; a Fiery Axe, at level 45 over in Dragonmurk about 3 weeks ago, and a week after that at level 46 I got Boots of Avoidance from one of those level 45 wolves in the Hinterlands. Hopefully this is establishing a pattern of sorts since I just dinged 47 last night. I'm thinking a nice purple gun of some sort...
Or orange. I'm not greedy.

First epic at lvl 50 last night running the stupid robot chicken back to Steemwheedle. Chicken alerts scorpions in the area. Frantically looting trying to keep up after killing all scorpions and I get "Ring of Saviors". Very nice.

My first purple was Kang the Decapitator when I was in my 50s. I sold that puppy for 450g -- stupid AH took 30g of it...

Felstriker dropped on my 3rd UBRS run. Aww yeah.

My first epic was my Amulet of the Darkmoon, right at level 60. And shortly afterward I managed to find a Myrmidon's Signet while gaining Wintersaber Rep. After farming there so long, I was able to buy Giantstalker's Bracers. From then the epics just poured in. Hoping to get my epic cloak from CH rep (unless I'm lucky enough to win the roll on the next Shrouded Mists). Then I'll be just one pure epic guy :)

Oh! I just remembered that my actual real first epic was Stonerender Gauntlets, found it in either BS, WPL, or Un'goro around level 52. Got 90g for it :) Go neutral AH! :D

Oh I didn't get my first epic until Molten Core, but I DID manage to get 3 in one night. We were short priests, and we have 6 priestly drops, so the other priest, and yours truly cleaned house that night!
Oh Happy Day!!
Porphecy Robe, Gloves, and Belt I believe

I spell Porphecy the ancient latin way, I'm not a terrible speller, not by a longshot!!!
*cough* PROPHECY, there.

My first epic was the Lifestone trinket, looted in the Blasted Lands by the orges in the northeast corner. I still have it in my bank, although I don't use it that much anymore.
I also remember getting the Skullflame Shield in Scholomance, not too long after that. I had just started going 1h then (was previously a 2h retn00b pally), so that worked out very well. :)

I got Nightblade at level 46. I then traded that for Taran Icebreaker. I used Taran from level 47-54.

My first epic was also Kang, The Decapitator, but I used it (I'm a hunter and it was an upgrade). If I only knew how much I could've sold it for, and how soon I'd replace it with a Zulian Stone Axe. Oh, well...

My first epic. Was ninja'd by a warrior. The Staff of Jordan drops off of one of the minor bosses in Ulda. I passed being a Rogue, the priest and druid in our party roll Need as does the Warrior. Wait, what? And he wins it. Leaves the party. Hearths and is gone. Saw it posted on the auction house later that night for 300G, 400G buy out. Don't know if ever sold or not.
Yeah, I was livid and I didn't even roll on it!

My first epic was freezing band from the ogres in burning steppes. It was awesome since I am a frost mage. Got it at lvl 52 just grinding..

My first Epic was technically at 43 when both halves of Sul'Thraze dropped in two consecutive Zul Farrak runs. I couldn't use one half (Sang'Thraze) until 44 and the other half (Jang'Thraze) until 45. Then I had to wait until I hit 50 to form the might Sul'Thraze. As a hunter its nothing special. The proc is nice but no specs. I have since upgrade to the Brutality Blade. I was going to DE the other night and couldn't bring my self to do it. I made it part of my Around Town outfit along with my Tux and red pimp hat.

My first epic was fairly plain as epics go. At 41 I was grinding the trolls out in Hinterlands. One of them dropped a Shining Shortsword. I was so happy, till I realized how much the prices had dropped on them. Only managed to sell it when I dropped it below 100G.

pick up enchanting and DE old epix. It's *SO* worth it. I've made 1000g easy on old epix.
gill Aug 16th 2006 4:31PM
Mine was the Blackskull Shield. Tried to sell it but so far no luck. Don't really have any use for it as a warrior since the stats suck so it's just sitting in my bank for now.
Chad Aug 16th 2006 4:32PM
Robes of Insight at level 44. level 54 and still wearing... They are wonderfull... But I am ready for something new now..

Ardent Custodian while grinding quests in STV at a pretty low level. Sold that one for 200G and used that money to watch the AH for other Ardent Custodians selling for less. Once I realized how much I could sell it for, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to make some easy money. I think I bought two or three more for about 90G each and sold them at a healthy profit.
That was a long time ago, but I still search for them on the AH once in a while. :)
