Breakfast Topic: What Do You Want from the Expansion?
This question posed on the general forums, while I presume it to be in jest, got me to thinking. The poster wants a blue dragon whelpling as a non-combat pet and claims, succinctly, that if one is not provided in the expansion, he will not be purchasing it. However, what are the real make-or-break features of the expansion? The features the game must have, and without which you wouldn't think to purchase it? I'm quite sure I'm already hooked - the revised PvP system and the smaller dungeon caps have already sold me on it. But I'm sure there are others who disagree. So what do you feel the expansion must have to keep you interested and involved in the game?Filed under: Breakfast Topics, Expansions

guild housing would be cool

Yep. You posted the picture of it. I want new funpets for Horde. It's just downright mean how we're not able to get that pretty Faerie Dragon but the alliance can.

Guild housing would be sweet. Instanced entrance from Ironforge and/or Stormwind. As guild grew more powerful they could improve their houses. +10 spirit buff from hot tub for 10 minutes. No other way to start a raid :). Of course a shared guild bank with keys for certain guild officers would be awesome. Maybe a bulletin board showing guild events/raids/etc..

I would hope for a beast Murloc so hunters can tame them... w00t w00t. I would love to have a tamed Murk-Old Eye even if I have to train it from level 20 to 70, haha.

In terms of make or break, the new PVP system made it for me. Level 70 is a nice addition, and the new lands are a plus, too.

I'd have to say QFT to the guild hall. That is MUCH MUCH needed. Maybe charge like 5000g for the initial purchase and then have a bank with like 500 slots initially and then upgradable.

End game content that will allow uber items (epic/legendary) to be obtained through skill and not the ability to show up to a raid on time and memorize where to stand in a fight. I raid everything, and I can say that I find the 5-mans much more enjoyable - mostly because I can do them when I want (really late) and be more selective about who I go with.
World PVP. And I'm looking forwarded to the updated pvp system.

Well, I'd buy it regardless, but you know what'd be sweet?
1. The ability to name our vanity pets and mounts.
It's about integrating more personalization into the game. Adding a dropdown menu to "rename" the soulbound pets can't possibly be that big of a deal, but I'm no code writing expert. It'd just be nice and fun.
2. Makeovers and beauty shops.
I'm very particular about the choices I made for hair color and stuff, but I've a friend who horribly regrets choosing green for his favorite toon. Adding a barber shop or beauty parlor to Darnassus and Thunder Bluff would allow players to alter their toons hairstyles and coloring, as well as increase traffic to both those cities. If you think it'd become horrendous, make the price increase, like respec costs. I'd personally like more options at the start, but alas.
3. Naming Bags/Sacks/Satchels/Packs
This is something offered through a mod, but I'm terribly surprised these weren't included in the game proper. I want to be able to have a bag marked "meat" for when i need to feed my pet, or "quest items" for when I need those.

Seriously, although I know it will be temporary, an end to lvl 60 mat grinding, rep grinding and gear grinding. My guild runs two raids on weekends, the other five days are an endless grind. If it wasn't for the expansion, I would be very tempted find another game to play or something else to occupy my time.

Definitely need to have guild halls for purchase that include shareable "bank" space. Also individuals should have the same thing available that they can share with a certain amount of people. Also the ability to access all the banks and bags of all of the characters on your account for the particular server would be an awesome benefit instead of having to constantly log out and back in and wait for an hour to transfer items. A 24 slot "raid bag" to place master looted items (including BOP's and multiples of unique items) into, to be dispersed later. More mount types. Tamed pets should retain all abilities they had prior to being tamed. I could care less about vanity pets but a lot of people like them so I think there should be more variety, and maybe have them quest rewards or something.

Guild housing and new classes, progressive classes even. Would love if you can proceed to another "higher class" with enchanced skills and abilities. The process of which would be a quest of some kind of course... one which doesn't require rep grinding lol
Nice to see more flying mounts rather than just 1 for each faction (drakes excluded ofc). Should be like armored gryphons just for humans... warplanes for dwarves.... gyrocopters for gnomes and armored hippogriffs(?) for NE's.... just off the top of my head.

Most of these have already been said but I want to register my agreement:
1. More choices on what toons can look like, much like the Sims or D&D...and the ability to change hair color, etc...
2. Naming for vanity pets. Why should hunters have all the fun?
3. I, too, have never understood why we can have the Crimson, Dark and Emerald whelplings but not the frosty blue ones of Winterspring. And I really want one too!
4. Bigger ignore lists without having to use a mod.
5. I think the AH should be more like E-bay and that there should be an easier way to find items. Like, it should not give me "no item found" if I type in titanium bars instead of titanium bar!
6. Perma-death for typing the words "Chuck Norris" in any channel
Of course, I'm going to buy the expansion anyway. Jewel-crafting FTW!

just adding on my rather short comment on guild housing...
- they should be expensive to buy, 10,000g+ to stop every guild having them
- you should be able to modify them like buying things to put in them in a sims-esque style way like class trainers, people to repair armout, banks, vending machine (gnome mage stuck in a glass box???), etc, etc.. all these would cost gold.. but atleast then the guild can say what they have when advertising as opposed to "we have a cool tabard"
- so definatly instanced, and i think an inn/pub look would work pretty well
i think the ability to defect would be pretty cool... the idea of having a tauren druid running around IF and not being attacked appeals to me.. of course it would have to be made uber hard to do

A new class.
Diablo 2 expansion = new items, new areas, sockets, and TWO new classes.
WoW expansion (which makes about as much money in 1 month as D2 ever did) = new items, new areas, new races, sockets but ZERO classes.
WTF Blizz, not making enough $$$???
