Breakfast Topic: What Do You Play?
Between maintenance and the patch issues, the servers were down for a good bit on Tuesday. Oh no! What to do? Well, what I did was play some other games I had long neglected. I can't imagine I was the only one to mix things up a little bit. In fact, I play several other games from time to time, especially when I get sick of a laggy server, whiny guild mates or the 4th raid that week.
Yesterday I found myself playing Ghost Recon on my XBox 360 and some other, not exactly cutting edge games, including Uno, Spades and Hearts on XBox Live. The card games were fun to mess around with, except when I met a few overly aggressive players who seemed obsessed with my mom and her bedroom practices. I just love the educated chat on XBox Live!
Earlier this summer I had a great time playing Oblivion, and I still enjoy a game of Civilization IV when I have time. What games do you folks play during WoW downtime or when you just don't feel like logging on?

With the downtime, I just recently discovered(again) how fun Warcraft 3 custom online games and Command and Conquer games are.
Dead Rising, too.

I tend to give some love to my 360. Oblivion usually, but Madden 2007 this week!

this post is so incredibly nerdy it's unbelievable. my life doesn't revolve around a coputer game. i have friends and a life.. i think all you people should really go out and meet iwth some of your friends and maybe have fun in the real life and not always sit infront of the computer. seriously im not trying to be mean, i think when the game isn't working you shouldn't go and play a different game but you should go out with your friends or something like that, seriously it can also be fun. :)

You are right.. I shouldn't .... people shouldn't do a lot of stuff. Oh well.. Oblivion it is ;)

...hm...maybe I should temper my tough-love admonition with an emoticon to connect with these coputer nerds...

Well I go out and do normal sociable things...or if I'm honest I sit and play Star Wars Battlefront 2/Knights of the Old Republic 2 alone in my room avoiding the horrors of the outside world and dwelling in my own pit of despair and geekiness...
Other games on my list: Hitman Blood Money, Oblivion, Jedi Academy and I've just bought a cheap collection of old Xbox games including SoulCalibur 2, Legacy of Kain defiance, MK: Deception and Timesplitters Future Perfect.

LIES!! PHILIP (#5) SPOUTS LIES! Away with ye blaspemher!
zeroeth Aug 23rd 2006 11:19AM
Okay Philip... first of all, I don't know about you, but I strongly suspect that your friends don't wait by their phone hoping WoW will tank so that you'll call them and suggest you all go have a couple of beers. Personally, it's a damn sight easier to just wait till Friday when we generally play poker anyway rather than trying to assemble my entourage at 4:23pm on a Tuesday.
...and, tell me what the hell gives you the right to admonish anyone for what they do with their time? How is doing any one thing that a person enjoys any better than another? I know people who play bingo online... and when they can't play bingo online, they play poker online... and when they can't play poker they play something else online. Is it right for me to tell them that their wrong for doing the things that bring them joy? Perhaps I should tell them to do the things that bring ME joy instead... I could, but I don't. What's the point? Am I really that concerned for their well being? Does going to a basketball game instead of playing WoW make someone somehow more balanced? Is that persons "balance" really any of my business? Or... perhaps I just don't have much tolerance for people that aren't like me, and I enjoy taunting them with old-school, kindergarden namecalling and telling them that they should be more like me or that what they choose to do with their time is somehow "wrong".
Here's my suggestion for you... and don't bother thinking that I'm doing the very same thing as you did by suggesting how you should or shouldn't act. You chose to create your post of your own accord with no goading by anyone else, and by doing so, you gave us all the right to respond. You opened this can of worms, not me.
Anyway, my suggestion is this, and you can take it or leave it as you please. Keep your eye on your own ball and, when you aren't able to do whatever it is that you enjoy, if you want to run naked through a field of poppies, knock yourself out. But don't waste your time coming here to tell us that you don't approve of our choice to play another computer game when our game of choice isn't available. It's just none of your concern. You can think it, feel it and embrace it like a long lost friend... but keep it to yourself m'kay?
We'll be just fine without your taunting, namecalling and self-righteous preaching...
I promise.
