Breakfast Topic: What Do You Think of 1.12?

Well, patch 1.12 has been live for a couple of days now, so the question seems obvious. Now that you've had a chance to see the patch in action on the live realms, what do you think of it? Are the changes everything you expected them to be? Perhaps things with the patch have worked out better than you anticipated? Or worse? Well, chime in - what do you think of the patch?

I think that the Patch is a huge step in the right direction. The user interface enhancements have been needed for a long time, and I believe the more functionality that comes built-in, the better. We use mods because we have to in order to get the functionality we want, not because we particularly like dealing with a third part piece of software that must be updated regularly... ;)
The linked battlegrounds are awesome! Being able to get a game going at any time is excellent. Can't say enough good things about this.
My main character is a 60 Warlock, so the changes to Life Tap were very much welcomed, but only a bandaid fix compared to what is really neccessary to fix the class. (We're all holding our breath for the expansion.)
My alt is a Rogue (53), and I think the changes to the Rogue talents were a huge improvement, and cannot wait to get this guy leveled so I can take him into some instances.
Anyhow thats enough for now :P

My server, Smolderthorn, has been destroyed by this patch. Our lag went from bad to godawful. Permanent 2-4 second lag on abilities and even more on chat lag.

My main is a level 31 Druid, and Druid's got jack-all changes so in terms of my class I'm a little dissapointed, as I think Druid needs alot of tweaking, as the class still seems fundementally... flawed. Balance is too weak to start with.
However, cross realm BG is quite good in the sense you can get straight in on the PvP action, but the lag for me compared to normal BG is god-awful to quote Dahlaine. However, city lag in Stormwind & Ironforge for me and general lag throughout the world seems to have been greatly reduced, which is great! Howeverm I realise this isn't connection lag (I have 70 MS constant) but self-computer lag, so it seems less harsh on the processor.
But it appears a little buggy to some people. A couple of my guildies said they couldn't access their world map, and at one point buildigs dissapeared for me until I logged out.
Oh, and when I was in BG WoW crashed, which is bad. Considering it's never happened.

The Interface Options screen, that sick acid yellow, a full screen barf. I liked the old interface options screen. And I tried the built in scrolling combat text. Had the text shooting one way, then the other, then both ways, meh. SCT back on.
Haven't really thought about how I'll respec my Rogue. I love the cross-realms BG though. If it stays like last night it's going to be a good thing.

Druids didn't get many changes? All Paladins got was a tweak to either Divine Shield or its tooltip (I can't which), and that was to only bring it in line with the other changes made to those types of spells.
Overall, there wasn't much for me to like in this patch. Yeah, cross realm BGs are nice...but at the cost of server stability? Hopefully they'll get that fixed soon and we can move on.

The improvements are nice, but I have a question for anyone willing to answer. I have a 60 Rogue That had almost 25% crit rate, and with the new patch even with malice i only have 22% is there a reason for this, did Blizard change the formula for crit? or am i missing somwthing in the tallent tree?

Bleeding Hollow took a huge hit from the patch. Our server had hardware updates the same day as the patch and it was almost too much for our server to handle. Tuesday, our server would be up for 45 minutes to an hour and then crash for 10 minutes. At point one point we had a one hour lag spike. I stopped playing in the evening and just went out with friend instead. Thursday was not much better. Our server was down all day for maintenance and then crashed twice about two hours after being up. After that it stayed stable for the rest of the night, just was really laggy for the first hour of being back up.
As for the cross server battlegrounds, I =REALLY= like everyone being forced into a group. Playing a healing class, 60 UD Holy-Spec'd Priest, I find this to be vast improvement. One of the major flaws with the BGs pre-patch 1.12 is if everyone didn't join the raid, I would have a hard time finding people to heal. Now in BGs I can easily heal everyone around me. I know some warriors and DPS classes do not like this because they can't just run around solo things and reap all the honor. Personally, I think that is just short sighted. This favors a group mentality because when I would be in BG's as a holy priest I wouldn't think about soloing things, and I'd usually not do any offensive damage compared to healing. I give the cross server battlegrounds two thumbs up.
The sand and towers... bother me still. Both are pretty worthless and the sand turn-ins giving 200 honor may mess with honor caps. I'm still on the fence about these.
I give path 1.12 a 7/10.

All the realms on battlegroup #4 got screwed. Hunter pets won't summon in battlegrounds, and warlock pets have all their spells removed and are renamed.
Also, nobody is getting any marks of honor.
Increased lag.
Increased BG wait times.
Monumental failure. Please rollback to 1.11 and test the damn thing.

On Burning Blade, the patch day was pretty much lost. No instance worked properly and lag was bad. The server was down 30% of the evening in all.
Yesterday, was a bit more stable but at one point I got disconnected 5 times in a row.
Love the new BG though. I'm not a big PvPer but with shorter queues I might try it more often.
Mat Aug 24th 2006 12:38PM
uh...Hawk, considering your main is a 31 druid, you might want to wait until he's a little higher before you start talking about changes...Or just realize that being a druid isn't about doing one thing, it's about doing 3.
My favorite addition in this patch is the forced groups. What a godsend!
BigEye Aug 24th 2006 12:48PM
I got disconnected several times. Then, one time when I was DC'd, and I tried to log back in, it connected and then DC'd me immediately (5 times). I then logged in as my alt, no problems. Logged off of my alt, logged back in as my main, problem solved. Was it the "Patch"? I dunno, I just don't want that to happen again. I was in a group and I felt like a noob with a 56k modem connection. :(

*Blink*
Interesting. All changes are made towards high level characters? Huh.
And Talent Tree reforms don't affect lower levels?
Wow, that's good, won't need to worry about changing my Druid. And doing three things? That's handy, I always thought Druids always specialised...
Wow, thanks for pointing out that class changes make no differences to lower levels :D
/sarcasm

Mixed thoughts.
Cross-Realm BG's are awesome. Gives me just that more of a captive(well, impact-stunned, anyway) audience when I go on an arcane/fire critmage killing spree through AV.
The world PVP, however, not so awesome. Capture towers? Gather resources? Hell, if I wanted to play an RTS, I'd just go play Command & Conquer anyways. I love that Blizzard implements these massive zone changes, too, and doesn't really elaborate on what's going on. My guildmates said there was supposed to be some counter telling me how much resources we'd collected in Silithus and I never saw it, even though I did Silithyst runs for like an hour yesterday. And the towers? Am I just supposed to stand there? There's nothing to click.
I, for one, wish they'd just stop trying to provide us with "new content" and just improve the content already in the game. Save the groundbreaking new concepts for the expansion so they can break then instead of now!
Bill Aug 27th 2006 2:39AM
To my Pally and Druid friends who have already posted. Stop griping. Geez. You didn't get ANOTHER improvement to your class this patch. Do you know how long ago the warriors got their review? And do you know how long ago we were given any improvement to the class? or class breaking bugs like the charge/intercept bug were addressed? LONG LONG LONG LONG ago.
In fact, to the pally who complained that they only got one small buff and that it was based on the changing of the haste mechanics...did you LOOK at the warrior notes? Blizzard even screwed with us on the haste mechanics, changing them for the better for EVERYONE EXCEPT warriors: Thunderclap 10% will remain the same as always despite the changes to everyone elses abilities.
Stupid blizzard.

I think the main reason I like cross server bg's is because we finally can fight people more our gear. Bleeding Hollow's horde side is way behind in gear. There are two guilds on horde side in naxxramus (the guild i am in has downed instructor) and the other one has downed instructor and anub. About two months ago, the top 5 horde guilds all transfered leaving the horde on our serve way behind the curve so now with xserver bgs we can actually win :-D
Guyledouche Aug 24th 2006 1:47PM
Cross-Realm BGs rock as a horde. On my alliance server they still suck. However, I like that when I group with friends and get in queue, it will disband our group and put us in the raid automatically. When the BG is over it puts us right back into our group so we can queue up again real fast. Good thinkin Blizz!
Keeper of the Dumplings Aug 24th 2006 4:59PM
So far I'm liking the cross server battlegrounds, I've noticed Horde PuG's winning more often (I'm horde btw)
The only downside is that I don't see a lot of the familiar alliance faces that I liked seeing from my server :( Oh well, world PvP I guess!
Steamed? or Fried?

Wait until you hit 60, and you have to switch up between healing for bosses, feral for trash, and off-tanking. I mean, you don't _have_ to, but the druids I play with do.
You just need a _lot_ of gear...
Zequel Aug 25th 2006 11:14AM
PVP, good ideas, but sucks from massive lag.
PVE sucks from massive lag. Unplayable.
I give it a D-, I hope they don't release another patch until BC, really.
Mat Aug 25th 2006 11:33AM
Hawk, Marshall knows how it is.
