Breakfast Topic: The One Piece Of Loot
On my old Troll Priest I must have ran UBRS about 50 times waiting for my Devout Robe to drop. In retrospect, it might not have even been the best blue robe for a priest, but as it never dropped, it drove me nuts. I wanted that robe badly. I would see mages walking around in it, my warrior buddy got one on a guild run for the sole purpose of taunting me by wearing it around Orgrimmar...it was annoying. I finally gave up, bought a Truefaith Vestments pattern, leveled up tailoring and made myself a robe. In the end, it was a better robe, but it sure was frustrating never to complete my Devout set.
As my guild started MC, I realized there were bigger fish to fry, and I wanted to erase my terrible Devout Robe memory by getting a Robe of Prophecy. Sure enough, it didn't drop for our first 21 Golemagg kills. I was beginning to think I had some kind of curse placed upon me by the WoW gods. Finally, on our 22nd kill, the robe dropped and I had the DKP to snag it. My long quest to acquire a class set robe was over. It was, beyond first boss kills, the most exciting moment I had in WoW.
Do you have an item that took you forever and a day to get? What is/was your Devout Robe that you never got? Or your Robe of Prophecy that you finally received?

My Earthfury Boots. Lucifron won't drop them for me. It's my last set piece too

I too had the exact same problem with the Devout Robe. I dinged 60 on my priest back in October of last year and of all the countless times (well over 50) that I have been to UBRS, I have only seen the Devout Robe drop ONCE.
And that one time was after I already had my Robe of Prophecy so it went to another guildie.
So... you and I are kindred spirits. Your pain is deeply felt.

Hahahaha. It is the devout robe for me too! I am in a raiding guild but I still did my tier .5 quest for the fun of doing it. I need that robe for the final turnin. (The set is a great PVP set). It took me about 30 runs to get my devout skirt off the baron and I'm at about 20 UBRS runs not getting the robe. In both cases, 50% of the time, the drop is the mage loot. It's REALLY making me frustrated.

I'm a mage and my bane was Magister's robes. I had to settle for Devout instead haha.
Currently the item that won't ever drop for me when I have the DKP is Azuresong Mageblade. Damn paladins taking it...

Holy Cow! Since a year and a half ago, I have been in the process of collecting the Wildheart Helm for my druid. I had given up on it at one point, since I didn't care for the Wildheart that much, but with the .5 armor upgrade, the Feralheart armor is so good for shifter druids, I really want it again. Makes me sad, a bit, that Blizzard has a quest chain that depends on collecting random drops.
I have been counting, and I've been on 52 Scholo runs and have only seen the WH helm drop once, a year and a half ago, and lost it to a druid (who wasn't even playing very well!!!) back when you could 10-man zerg scholo.
On the plus side, my druid is halfway to exaulted with the argent dawn, without even trying for it!
Thanks for the post - sometimes I think I'm the ONLY one with that kind of crazy experience.

My pally had a full Scarlet Crusade armor that was alsmot complete (yes, I even got the tabard), except for the Chestpiece. Yeah not the best armor set, but I always wanted to have that armor set for times I farm SM.

I know this is lame compared to most but I'm a solo-er and LvL 40 is my highest toon. Anyway, I'm a hunter with a cat for a pet so naturally I went looking for the "Big Iron Fishing Pole" in the crab traps off of the Ferelas coast. I had a guildie tell me where it dropped but at LvL 40 that run was a bitch. Then I spent at least an hour swimming at .00000000001 MPH between each trap waiting for it to drop. Finally after about an hour to an hour and a half it dropped! For me and the maybe 3-5 hours I play a week it was a momentus occasion.

The Red Dragonscale Protector. Its been 4 months since it last dropped for my guild, and ive been to more than 95% of the runs during that time. We started doing AQ40 and I had enough DKP to win a Blessed Qiraji Augur Staff, so I dont think Ill be getting that shield ever now. Too bad, since its a fantastic item.

ROFLMAO! Gear is the biggest time sink of them all. Although I enjoy having nice gear, I refuse to run the same thing OVER and OVER to get these "rare" drops that every lvl 60 in IF is wearing. This would explain the proliferation of toons on my account, because, I am, you know... still addicted.

I needed the Qiraji spiked hilt off of Moam in AQ20 to complete my hunter's epic axe from the Cenarion Circle quests. It took me forever and a day to grind my rep up to exalted. Once I hit that though, things stood still as my guild could not make it past the Rajaxx event. Months went by...
When we finally clawed our way to Moam and the hilt dropped, I was possitively giddy the rest of that night and the following few days.
Funny what some silly pixels can you do you.

For me, it was the Lightforge Spaulders. I have only seen them drop twice - the first time I lost the roll, and the second time I finally was able to get them. I ran UBRS for something like 6-7 months before I was finally able to get them.
What made it worse was that it seemed like every single other paladin that I knew had them already - even if they weren't trying to get them!
But at least I was able to get them in the end.
Mordiceius Aug 25th 2006 9:53AM
Lol. Damn paladins. We always get those lightforge spaulders to drop. I can't count the number if times I've DE'd it. For the horde!
Burgdorn Aug 25th 2006 10:36AM
Oh yes I do have a tale to tell. Mine is far more painful too. Ok so I'm now 7/8 of Lightforge, a good set but not the best since MC just came out and the only thing in my path was the Baron. Of all the most sinster and evil pieces the be hidden in an instance it was there. This item of course was none other then my legs. I needed those legs, I needed them bad. Alas soon I just about gave up on them since I had clocked up to 100 attempts and never to once see them drop. So what happens from there?
D2 sets are released. Well over a year I had just held on to this set of Lightforge as a trophy to what I've done in the game but now it was in the way of yet a more splendid trophy, and since guild drama constantly destroyed guilds that I was in during BWL the only piece of DPS epics I had were Judgement Belt. I at first navely went ahead and started working on my first three pieces happy with the well designed missions and new stuff to revive UD strat... then it hit me when I won my 45 min run, first attempt mind you... I still don't have the legs.
I went to Allakhazam to figure what was needed after the first 3 pieces... and there in all its evil stood the Lightforge legs. As mocking as the day I finally gave them up, resurrected by some foul lich as a reminder of my unfinished task. Well I started becoming a pro leader of 45 min runs, I commanded groups, and worked hard towards every fight with the Baron, 30 runs later there was still no legs.
Now the evil was starting to corrupt me, no longer was BWL or MC important, nor was DM worth my time without these legs... I craved and desired them like a tiger stalking prey. Being 60 and not needing to be in IF for LFG I just sat there, outside the UD Strat entrance. Finally about another 32 runs they dropped, and after a grueling group that just wanted to get geared, and not because of D2, had wiped and crawled we made it to the Baron. It was hard but we did it and he was gone, nothing but a shadow torn to the ground once again, and my friend who was the leader of this rag-tag bunch and had watched me sit here doing this instance over and over again said one word as she ML.
"Burgdorn, you can cry now."
Burgdorn recieves [Lightforge Legplate]
Now, after being through ZG having 3 epic pieces form there and wearing 5 pieces of Lawbringer at this moment I can safely say there was no greater moment in all of WoW then this. A single blue had become greater then any other piece of armor any mob, that required and army, could offer. Nothing will surpass the feeling of joy that was felt that day. Even my roommates will attest to this moment, as the shrilling screech was heard through the entire townhouse.

Since the need for AD rep gained popularity until my guild got keyed, it was nice everybody spam running Scholo/Strat. Half of my guild decided to get the tier 0 sets from other classes (most of us are already tier 2), so our main warrior is 8/8 rogue, I have 3 priest, 2 mage, 1 warlock, and 1 druid piece (which I could easily buy the BoE items -- they're only running like 5G because of all the recent farmings there). It's pretty funny for the warrior, because noobs will open up a trade window with a lockbox.. rofl. Not even asking or looking. I can't wait to finish my magisters and have people ask me for some food/water.. haha /spit.

I had the same problem with the Wildheart helm. Currently I am in 3/9 Dreamwalker, and the rest Stormrage, but I still have pants from UBRS. MC was very bad to me, I have to have the worst luck with pants drops.

The most frustrating piece of equipment for me was definetly the Lightforge gloves. This was the last item to complete my set. The gloves only droped off of the last boss in BRD. I spent months with pick up groups (most of which could not get to the emperor) with no luck. Finally after about 50-60 runs we made it to the emperor, took him out, and they dropped. It was a feeling like no other!
Medivak Aug 29th 2006 3:18PM
My guild has BWL on farm, and is well on it's way into clearing Naxx and I still haven't gotten the Devout Robe that I so greatly desire. . .
Gaspar Aug 25th 2006 1:12PM
Yeah I have had the same problem, /sigh, I've run Scholo atleast 30 times and have yet to have the Magisters Crown Drop, not only that being a big dissapointment but on top of that everytime the guild gets to Golemag and Iam not around he drops the azuresong mageblade, ugh, im starting to get extremely jealous, all this time and still no mageblade, the two times I did make it to golemag he didnt drop it :(
oh well guess so people have luck and others dont, dont count me to be the one with the luck :P
rinks Aug 25th 2006 1:21PM
Yeah. Currently I'm 4/8 Lawbringer and 4/8 judgement, ALL of which were easier to attain then my Lightforge Set. The piece that was by far the worst for me were the gauntlets. Getting people to run to emperor was a joke, and the drop rate was horrible. I finally bought them when they went to BoE status and owned them for all of 2 minutes before I switched them up to Soulforge.
The whole Lighforge set was nasty to put together. Much easier getting the epics.
