Breakfast Topic: Creepiest WoW Moment

The official forums have a thread going asking about everyone's creepiest encounters in Azeroth. So, now it's your turn! What have discovered during your travels that is just downright spooky? A number of people on the forums have mentioned the haunted house in Goldshire and more or less the entire zone of Deadwind Pass, but have you found anything else? I've got to say that Chromaggus' room in Blackwing Lair always felt a little eerie... I mean, really, how can you walk in there for the first time without being a bit taken aback?

the barrens chat creeps me out every single time.

Frankly, nothing creeps me out quite as much as anything having to do with the Silithids. Those things are creepy on SUCH a level.
Maybe it has to do with those big twitching spires...

None, WoW is too cartoony for anything to be creepy.

I was always freaked out a little bit by the random hanging bodies in Azeroth. The first time I saw some guy hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck, I really got creeped out.

Whoa, whoa ... back up. There's a haunted house in Goldshire?! I've never noticed this! How did I miss this for 43 full levels? And of course now that I have to go find something, my account's locked. -pratfall-
Actually, I rolled my first undead yesterday, and the thing that creeped me out the most is those open mass graves just outside of Brill. I knew there where mass graves there, but I didn't realize they were open, and I fell in. That scared me.

The empty crypt in the Badlands. I was simultaneously terrified and pissed off at myself for actually becoming terrified at a game in which I am in no real danger. Of course, my guild thought the situation was hilarious and wasn't helping but even after I confirmed that there was nothing inside I still found it creepy. I also find the Scholo back story to be really disturbing and any time that I see bodies hanging from trees. That's about it!

Well, Blizzard will neither confirm nor deny the existance of any "haunted house." However, you can look at the video and decide for yourself...!

The creepiest encounter i had was a naked female gnome dancing on the water fountain in Stormwind. I still have nightmares.

I, too, find the house in Goldshire creepy, but not because it's scary. I find it creepy because it makes no sense and it's just too weird. It's kind of like seeing a guy in clown costume driving a car in the middle of the night in a rural area. (Been there)

C'thun whispering 'you will fail' and 'your friends will betray you' in AQ40 is downright chilling...
inframike Aug 31st 2006 3:00PM
*nod* I think the scariest C'thun quote was "Teh Hunter will ninja j00r lewt."
Seriously, nothing outright creeped me out, but the screenshot of the chained dead dragon from BWL was a spooky highlight for me when I saw it the first time, and the people you give experimental death potions to in Brill are good horror.
The secret underground passages in Deadwind Pass near Med's tower are kinda spooky too, but that could be mostly because there's no/quiet music there.

Running through Deadwind pass as a level 36 for the first time. Pure panic.

The time i walked into a WoW wedding. And i asked what what was going on and everyone when SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH at the same time...... Was on a RP server... my char was deleted five minutes later out of fear of them tracing my IP to my carrier, then hacking their DB to find out where i actually lived... Very Scary....

My guildie showed me the locked crypt in deadwind pass, near the tower, we killed ourselves at the door and then rezzed on the other side, the crypt is VERY creepy, bones all over the place, and at one point there is a green deep pool of water filled with chains and hooks, and bodies hanging upside down from the chains. Also there was a well that lead to a ginormous pile of bones. I couldn't get out of there fast enough!
Would you like some soy sauce?

In Scholo, right after the Summoning Room, there's a group of children skellies sitting in a circle on the floor.. Been to Scholo regularly for over 9 months now, and it still creeps me out when I see it.
C'thun is just funny, "your heart will explode" just triggers the funnies as you're trying to kill something over vent. "You will diiiiiiiiiie", we're already dead, Bob!

Other scary/creepy things I've noticed:
1. The haunted house in Darkshire where it gets really dark as you approach.
2. Making your first undead character and trying out the "cannibalize" skill. YUCK!!!!!

I'd have to say on my way up to SM, the bodies hanging from a tree.

Mine was not a place. After taking a short break from a solo session I came back and found a near naked Warrior with a huge sword linked to me by /follow. I tried to play with him trailing along, but I would catch glimses of that big sword and it was messing with my mind. I finally just logged off. Never did find out who, what or why. Not sure I wanted to know, but I was creep'ed out for sure.

I was at the haunted house near goldshire once, and my friend was there with me and can attest to this... we were staring at the kids, wondering what they were about, when this guys voice, real loud says, "You will die!" lol, is that supposed to happen? is blizzard just messing with me? WTF?
