Draenei and Blood Elf Voices Leaked
If you're in the mood for more Burning Crusade spoilers, Elüna sent along a page that links to leaked voice files of the Draenei and Blood Elf male and female characters from the upcoming expansion, including their /charge, /silly, and /flirt emotes, and a few others.Personally, I'm not real impressed with the ones I listened to (I have to save a little bit of the new content for the game, right?), but maybe that's because I'd rather hear them in context rather than from leaked .wav files. But a few of them are pretty good, and go a long way towards fleshing out the cultures and personalities of the two new races. True RPers probably won't be real happy about the pop culture references that show up (one of the funnier Blood Elf female /flirts actually makes a pretty good meta-game joke), but these leave little doubt that the same quirky Blizzard charm we're used to is coming with the expansion.
And there's one more thing I noticed about one of the voices. This one's really a spoiler, so I'll put it after the jump...
[ Thanks, Elüna! ]
Anybody else recognize the Blood Elf male voice actor? Think pizza and heroes on a halfshell...
That's right, I do believe the male Blood Elf is none other than Cam Clarke, who famously voiced Leonardo in that standby of my childhood, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. He was also Die Fledermaus in the great Tick cartoon, Simba in the Lion King, and some character called He-Man (don't know if you've ever heard of him). It's no wonder I recognized him-- he's one of my favorite voice actors.

Heh, way to go Blizzard for further perpetuating the female stereotype with the female Blood Elf voices.
Loubear Sep 5th 2006 9:52PM
The draenei are funny, and lame at the same time. The blood elves are... "I'm addicted to you, baby."

Best one is definitly...
"We're allied with the Tauren!? ...Fantastic! Well be having steak twice a week."
God Cam Clarke sounds so sexy as the Blood Elf guy. Yeah that's right I went there.

#2 - Uh...correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't ALL the characters voices/movements modeled after real-world stereotypes...that's what makes them fun (and funny).
Trippy Sep 6th 2006 12:39AM
OMG those are just too funny!

#6, Yes! You are quite correct.. but in my defense, I'll say that I didn't say it was the ONLY stereotype perpetuated :) By the way, I should have mentioned I am generally refering to Alliance females.
I generally don't care about the issue... they are really funny, as you say, but it just seemed to me that one of few female stereotypes in WoW is the "frivolous nails and hair" type of lady. Ever hear any of their jokes (excluding Gnomes, who actually remind me of Lisa Simpson)? It just seems like more of the same with Blood Elf females.

bring ample supply of butter and goblin jumper cables.

Horde has little to do with hair and nails when it comes to ladys, unless its pulling out one or the other, its a.. change.. to see such vanity, too bad the Draenai couldn't be all vulgar to balance it out. Not too bad, but I have a feeling not all of these will be used.. some go a little too far... Sexodar? Guess we'll have to see.

Ha! I agree. I don't care if some elements are "politically correct," but I was pretty surprised to hear the female Draenei say "Do gnomes come with a vibrate feature?" Being a gnome myself, I find that just.. um, interesting...

You look almost as good as me.
Ha Nice flirt!
Hope it makes it.

"Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot.. like.. me..?"
I say _the_ most hilarious pop culture reference!
p3arl Sep 6th 2006 9:03AM
LOL, the dranei male reminds me of a cross beetween puss in boots (antino banderas from shrek 2) and a russian.
ROFL, I MUST HAVE THE EXPANSION!

Are we 100% sure that these are real? I think they're awesome, but some of them push a few limits. Especially the pop culture references. I'm sure Blizz would be careful enough not to infringe copyrights, but some of them seem to come kinda close.
mike Sep 6th 2006 12:02PM
Trudie, no we're not 100% sure these are real, but the quality of them (esp. if that is Cam Clarke) is pretty telling. Parody, which most of these would be considered to be, is protected from copyright infringement anyway.

Rofl a lot of those emotes are so dirty, I wonder if they will get removed like they did to some of the emotes like the Troll song about "killing 2 dwarves"
I think my favorite so far is "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?
The draenei female talking about food all the time got me hungry tho!

You guys forget to mention that "Don't you wish your girlfriedn was hot like me." was said by a "male" BE. lol
Theadrick Sep 7th 2006 12:56PM
Just a minor nitpick. Simba in the Lion King (adult Simba) was voiced by Matthew Broderick, not this other dude.
Chronos Sep 8th 2006 2:25AM
He says he was Simba on his website which isnt completely accurate IMDB says he was the singing voice of Simba in the Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, also he did the voice for simba in Kingdom Hearts 2. He was also Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid, along with a list of other memorable characters the length of both my arms put together. Blizzard did good in picking him to voice act for them, he's top notch. Like alot of others have said these might not be real but i have faith that at least the BE males are.
Weither or not alot of the will be included in the game (or in the game for long) will be another story, cause some are hilariously vulgar in certain respects.
On another note I love how they got the BE (not really female) stereotype down 100%.. go almost any where and read about how the bloodelves are only interested in 2 things 1)Magic and 2) themselves ... awesome.
