Breakfast Topic: How Many Alts?
I consider myself an active alt-a-holic - with a dozen alts across several servers. I tend to switch off between them, using up rested experience here and there, and occasionally playing for longer periods on a specific alt that has caught my fancy. However, Shane points out this blog by Rah Si Kuhn - who appears to have a bigger alt problem than I do. (Though whether that makes me feel more or less secure I cannot say.) But what about you, dear readers - how many alts do you have? Are your alts a problematic distraction from a main character you mean to advance, or a fun change of pace?Filed under: Virtual selves, Breakfast Topics

I only have 2 characters, a Dwarf priest and an Undead Priest, that way I can experience the game from both sides (as you can see I'm not a die hard alliance or Horde member).

On one server
60 Tauren Shaman
49 Orc Warrior
48 NE Hunter
45 NE Rogue
36 NE Druid
30 NE Warrior
26 Human Paladin
24 Forsaken Priest
11 Tauren Hunter
On another server
22 Tauren Druid
20 Troll Rogue
16 Forsaken Mage
On another server
29 NE Druid
18 NE Warrior
4 Human Rogue
On another server (new)
4 Gnome Rogue
1 Troll Hunter
1 Gnome Rogue
And probably a dozen deleted now. Highest deleted was a 36 Forsaken Warrior. (I really didn't need a second Warrior in the same faction and server. Honest.)

I have 10 alts... so no craziness there. My biggest challenge is not having too many alts, it's having too many games to play!

I'm defenetly an alt-aholic.. I've got at least more then 10 characters spred across at least a few servers and I know once BC hits I'm gonna have 2 more

I'm not sure which is worse, the number of alts that I have or the spreadsheets I use to track levels and skills for pivoting. I also created a leveling chart when I first got into WoW.
According to my spreadsheet, I have 37 characters with a combined level of 940 (including most of the ones I deleted when I was doing cleanup to consolidate onto fewer servers). That said, I onlhy have 906 levels with the 32 still alive. If only the character transfer had come out sooner!
Count - Level range
5 - 60s
1 - 50-59
5 - 40-49s
3 - 30-39s
6 - 20-29s
8 - 10-19s
9 - 1-9s
I have at least one of each race race's mount, including 2 felsteeds (still working on the Pally mount, but then I'll have the full set). After that, I'll have to level one of my warriors to 40, so I'll have one of classes leveled to 40 and above.
Somehow, I do have an active life outside of WoW and work, and I've been able to combine some of my friendship time with WoW time which makes both more fun.

Characters in order of creation (same server):
human priest (60)
gnome mage (60) (fire spec)
gnome warlock (60)
gnome mage (28) (ice spec - for BGs)
dwarf rogue (19? 23?)
human warrior (19)
I raided with the priest for several months (Ony, MC, ZG, BWL) but got pretty burned out with that. My old guild invited my lock to BWL last weekend and while it was fun to play with my old guildies again, it confirmed my suspicions that playing/grinding for 4-6 hours in the same dungeon with 39 other people had become unbearably tedious. :- My favorite thing is 5-man (DM, Strat, Scholo, etc....UBRS - just past Rend so far) with my husband and some mutual friends/guildies. That same small group just started a very small guild for BGs...starting with 29s for a while. I've also been (mostly) enjoying leveling my warrior and she will probably go to 60 if I don't get bored with her.

tons of alts on 7-8 servers. I ushualy play a server for a week then move on so it gets a little cluttered.
