More rumoured BC hunter talents/skills
[Disclaimer: Don't shoot the messenger, I know these may be fake.]My quest to find hunter talents and skills from the Burning Crusade Alpha test continues unabated as I was directed to this post on Gamefaqs via the official WoW hunter forums.
The big news in this rumour is a complete revamp of hunter itemization and stats.
Apparently in the BC Alpha test hunters now only receive 1 point of ranged attack power per point of agi instead of 2, as well the agi/crit ratio for hunters has been lowered to approximately 33. To compensate for these changes all ranged weapons will have their dps value boosted by 10%.
To go along with these changes the method by which crit and hit stats will be calculated is changing as well. Crit % and hit % are being changed to crit rating and hit rating, this change is being done to prevent current items like Blackhand's Breath, which has a 2% crit increase on it, from being used at higher levels. Items will now have a crit rating which will be cumulative in value, not a percentage. (similar to the way the agi/crit ratio works) making items scale better at higher levels.
The hunter talents and skills look not too bad (again assuming they are real), I particularly like the Stampede skill as well as the Frozen Arrow skill.
The fundamental changes to how hunter stats are determined may cause (who am I kidding , will cause) an uproar amongst hunters, but if the changes allow Blizzard to properly itemize hunter gear it will be a good change over the long term.
Again, I will provide the disclaimer that these may very well be fake, but I just can't resist a good rumour and I am getting a little worried by the time it is taking Blizz to get the hunter info out.
Full details after the break.

Typos are not mine, they are left in for fake-specualtion effect.
Hunter's stat mechanics are being fundamentally altered.
* In the current alpha, hunters only receive 1 RAP per point of AGI instead of 2.
* They have lowered the agi/crit ratio for hunters to something like 33 (more like rogues)
* They have boosted the dps value of all ranged weapons in the game by about 10%
* from anecdotal accounts it sounds like you epic hunters will gain about 5% crit or so and lose about 400 AP. While your bows will be boosted in magnitude, (anecdotal accounts would place the boosted Ash'rethul on par with the Slavemaker from Naxx)
* Hopefully that will leave you about in the same place, powerwise
* This will however change what hunters look for in stats, and significantly change how your talents function, which may be why yours were saved for the second batch.
%crit and %hit will be replaced by crit rating and hit rating
* this is to ensure a level scalability for crit/hit items. As levels go up, these static % bonuses would become more and more valuable, you'd see people at 70 running around with Blackhand's breadth and other such items because they were still amazing.
* This is for both melee and spells
* at 60, 14 crit rating will equal 1% crit. Blackhand's bredth will be 28 crit rating. At 70, that 28 crit rating will be worth something around 1.2% crit
* This change may or may not make stats inherently more useful, as they often degrade at a slower rate (example, at 60 warriors require 20 agi for 1 crit. Going by the same scaling factor they'd require 23.3 agi for 1 crit at 70. If this is true, then for some classes, items with stats like Chromatic boots etc will be significantly more useful than items with +crit% for longer

Wow! So many people are going to be yelling nerf. I'm sure those are going to be changed soon though. Frozen arrow is that powerful and 25 second cooldown? Run up, FD and explosive trap + that.. instant 900 dmg + 400 dot. Interesting. At least they're attempting to give hunters AOE. I'm glad Blizz finally took a measure to do so (if this is indeed true). Shrapnels sound cool, especially since they're moving up the buff limit to 40 instead of 15. We can actually place our stings, etc. on a target :)
Looks like the PVP side of a hunter benefitted as well. I wonder if the sentries die when you die and you have to replace them? Probably..
I also wonder if Arachnid Sting stacks, and if they plan on letting Viper Sting stack. I figure Arachnid wouldn't, but it'd be nice if Viper Sting did, seeing as 1100~ mana isn't very much to be draining, especially if you have say, 6 hunters in the group and 1 warlock during an AQ40 clear :-

Some cool looking stuff, we'll have to wait and see if it's real or not...

I hope they don't change crit% to crit rating...I just bought Don Julio's ring today.

um. "reduces armor by 550 every 3 seconds for a maximum of 2750 armor reduction"
2750? LawL - render a mage/rogue armorless in 9-12 seconds.
"Plant a Shrapnel on the opponent"
wtf? Shrapnel: is a projectile fired from a gun containing bullets/pieces of metal." this guy makes it sound like some sort of bomb.
"Mental Trap = 20% chance to silence all enemies in 10 yards for 30 seconds." sounds nice but that would completely devistate any caster. most pvp encounters dont take more than 1 minute.
most these are incredibly over powered - so dont build up your hopes on these
Huma Sep 13th 2006 3:10AM
"1 point of ranged attack power per point of agi instead of 2" This is a big S**t.. and I was polite.. -crit affects only hunters, but +10 to ranged helps ALL class.. I hope it won't happen :-|
mavi Sep 16th 2006 5:53AM
Hm, as there are a talent in there to give ranged weapon skill this is either fake or they are going to change how ranged combat works for all classes, for now ranged weaponskill doesnt do anything as ranged cannot glance.
SumYung Sep 20th 2006 12:52AM
Obvious fake, i mean, really obvious fake.
All of these are overpowered fantasy talents.
Blizzard have already confirmed they are not changing anything in the game for under level 60 so far as talents and builds goes. All the new talents will affect 60+ only, they will not be adding level 25 talents as this guy claims.
Blizzard are not changing any base game mechanics. It's an expansion, it's not an zomgwtfpwn the world is ending situation. It's just an expansion. There'll be a few new talents, some new items, some new mobs, some new dungeons and areas to explore. That's it. They are not going to tear the entire game apart and rebuild it. They are not changing game wide variables. Why should they? It works fine now. They've had 12 major patches plus endless minor patches to make any changes needed. Why now, when they are on the verge of releasing a large content update that will potentially create new bugs and problems, why at this sensitive time suddenly tear the whole fucking game to pieces and rebuild it from the ground up? Why? Because they're not going to.
Blizzard are only adding about 6 or 7 talents to each class, this guy has like 25 new talents? wtf? how would you even fit all these on the talent tree? it would need to be the size of the whole screen to fit them?
Detect invisible already exists, it's called detect hidden.
This is clearly some attention whore with too much time on his hands. Guess that's another dollar in the "everytime i meet a prick online" jar.
J T Sep 20th 2006 10:09AM
Good points about it beingfake, except they are changing the way 1-60 works. Have you looked at the trees on Blizz's site? Take a look at Warriors for example. They changed a ton. These talents do seem a little overpowered, but so have some of the ones that the other classes have been given.
llikrevo Sep 20th 2006 5:50PM
Stealth and Invisability are 2 different things, Rogues and shadowmeld stealth, invisability potions provide invisability. PvE examples of the two can be found in DM, where the undead that 'appear' are using greater invisability, which can be detected with a warlock buff, but cann't be flared out via hunters.
BigRedPet Sep 25th 2006 8:43PM
these tallents at least the MM ones are way to underpowered in light of the fact that hunter endgame dmg is lacking post BWL
Destromath Sep 24th 2006 5:47PM
These are more legit looking than most "leaked" things I've seen so I'm going to try to stay hopeful. There are a few things in them that keep me skeptical about them being fake but whoever made them will at least get points from me for creativity.
On that note I can't wait for an official release of Hunter info regardless of whether it's this or something completely different.
Brain Sep 24th 2006 6:07PM
Hmm in Bc there will be the first new skills at lvl 20 ;)

------------------------------------
> You're a dumbass. For the current mechanics, each point of weaponskill also adds 0.04% crit AND hit besides the reduced damage penality for glancing blows (which only occurs to meleed hits, right)
Though, the crit and hit bonus you'll get through this talent is pretty decent. If you're a dwarf(+5 to guns/troll (+5 to bows) or using the eye of nerub (+4 to all ranged weapons), you can maximize yout crit and hit rate to a pretty decent value.
Flitschbirne Sep 26th 2006 3:05PM
Arachnid Sting...
Warriors come to papa :-)
jeremy Sep 26th 2006 3:26PM
obviously written by a hunter, in his dreams
Jastaman Sep 28th 2006 8:47PM
This is one of the poorer fakes I've seen.
A whole bunch use wording or functionality Blizzard would never use.
Some of them are insanely overpowered for no real reason. (30 seconds of AoE silence from a trap? Come on... like Hunters need that. If Blizzard isn't making Tac Mastery a trainable talent for warriors there's no way they're just going to completely remove a Hunter's deadzone.)
Some are just pathetic rehashes of other classes skills to fill in space. (Sentry Owl? bahahahahaha)
Or they just word drop a few things we know from BC but don't know what they're for yet. (Stampede knocking people back is lifted straight from that odd 'spell knockback' thing found in the alpha.)
Plus there is NO mention of the two or three spells we already know of from Alpha datamining. (Aspect of the Viper, Steady Shot etc.)
Also they're also WAY too detailed compared to every other leaked piece of information from the Alpha. Everything else has been sketchy because it's been leaked past NDA or its been datamined which doesn't give you all the info (stuff like exact damage numbers gets all garbled).
ndaK Sep 29th 2006 12:50AM
UMMM!!!! SHRAPNEL IS METAL, IT IS NOT SHOT FROM A GUN.....WHEN I GRENADE GOES OFF ITS SHOOTS METAL INTO YOU CALLED SHRAPNEL.....KIND OF LIKE A BOMB......SO ID SAY HE WAS RIGHT!
Canof Oct 2nd 2006 4:19PM
At first, I thought some of those talents could be real and they seemed quite nice. A bit overpowered in some instances, maybe, but I thought it could maybe be rebalanced and work. But then I saw Stampede and its "knockback" effect. That throws all credibility out the window. Blizzard has stated they are NOT giving knockbacks to players. After I saw that, the overpowered-ness of other abilities became more clear. Frozen Arrow (which was listed after Stampede here, actually) is also clearly overpowered. And ... three Sentry Owls? What is this? Hunters can prevent rogues from entering a room with 3-4 entrances (the 4th being where the hunter is himself) without being noticed? The talents were better thought-out than the standard abilities, which throws the entire thing into question.
Sticky Oct 2nd 2006 5:45PM
As a hunter. I am likeing some of what was listed as possible things to come. However some do seem really overpowering. Untill blizzard makes the actual anouncement of what will be in the Exp. I'm not even gonna worry about it.

first off. I am not trying to pick a fight here with you. But. If they did make changes to game mechanics with this upcoming expasion. It would not be the first time in MMO gaming history that it has been done. Take a look at Ultima Online. Perfect example. However. I am hoping you are right in this case and that Blizzard looks at Ultima Online as a example as to why NOT to change game mechanics with the exp. Age of Shadows anyone?
C Oct 2nd 2006 8:18PM
It's obvious most of these are fake. Blizzard tries to stick with themes as much as possible, and hunters by nature would never sacrifice their pet (not to mention it's mispelled). Also, the number of shrapnel spells are ridiculous - that's half your spell bar. Other classes don't receive nearly as many new spells. The trees in general lack cohesiveness and don't play against each other in the normal blizzard style, where tier talents in each tree tend to combine well, forcing a choice between going higher in one tree or spreading it out.
