The long road to 'Exalted'
This week, I hit a new milestone on my main character -- I finally got Exalted with one of Azeroth's factions. By playing far too many games in Alterac Valley, I have somehow managed to convince the Stormpike Guard to like me (and I mean really like me). Anyone familiar with AV will know that you get a lot of reputation per game played, and thus getting to exalted is simply a matter of turning up, but it's still a great milestone for me.Achieving this got me to thinking about other factions I'm working on reputation for. Slowly but surely I'm building up Cenarion Circle, Zandalar Tribe and Brood of Nozdormu faction through raiding, while I'm working on Silverwing Sentinels and League of Arathor by PvPing. On top of that, I'm working towards Stormwind reputation so I can get a horse mount, and I'd love to get Timbermaw Hold and Thorium Brotherhood rep for the recipes they bring.
It's all a bit much, really. Reaching Exalted with AV seemed to take long enough, and I'm staring despondently at my 'Neutral' and 'Friendly' bars -- not to mention the one or two 'Revered' bars which seem to stretch on forever. As I'm not a fan of grinding, reaching higher reputation levels with many factions is a case of farming instances equally repetitively -- for now, my tactic is to do these instances and let the rep come to me, rather than vice versa, but it will be many months before I reach higher levels if I continue this trend.

It took me exactly 6 contiguous days to go from Neutral to Exalted in AV. It's not really that hard.
It's going to take me a month to hit Exalted with WSG.
And 3 months total to hit Rank 14. Now THAT sucks.
BUT, it's still infinitely better than doing months of raids for the other purple sets.

Linked battlegrounds has done wonders for me getting exalted in WSG and AB. I had gotten exalted in AV months ago but for AB and WSG the only Alliance to queue up on my server (I play Horde) are guilds and we never had a chance. I had given up until 1.12. It only took me 2 weeks to get 20k rep in AB to get exalted. WSG is next.
As for getting exalted with races to buy their mounts I have no clue how hard it is. I feel like I've done every quest imaginable and I'm not even close. Anyone have any idea what you need to do and how hard it is?

It's infinitely better? When raiding I only have to raid 5 nights a week for about 5 hours... While Rank 14 still takes basically abouit 100 hours a week (give or take?). I just reached Exalted with Brood of Nozdormu, so I'm quite excited to be finally getting my exalted ring (though it only took 3 months). I'm almost exalted with CC, Zandalar, and Argent Dawn, so that'll be really great to include :)

after starting bwl, it took about 5 weeks before i got full tier 2, much faster than the pvp grind
also, exaulted with av, i had the misfortune of getting that when battle grounds first came out. now that took work..

well, the runecloth quartermasters make getting faction with the 4 major cities (alliance or horde) pretty easy. my fave was to either grind in EPL or silithus and get a faction two-fer (AD and cloth or CC and cloth.)
you could even try for the trifecta in in winterspring:
timbermaws, cloth and wintersaber (well, wintersaber is just a painful timesink and really impacts the other 2 adversely.)
i'm currently slogging through my 18th faction to exalted -- and yet, i could never stomach doing WS for long.
