WoW TCG preview: Chain Lightning
My shaman is only level 20, and doesn't yet have access to the Chain Lightning spell yet -- but I can only imagine the fun I'll have when I get it. (I get giddy just thinking of all the sheeps I could break!) The version of the spell included in the TCG is just what you would expect after having played the online game -- for the cost of five resources, it deals 3 damage to your primary target, 2 damage to the next target, and finally 1 damage to the last target. A great way to wipe out a whole party of enemies!Filed under: Odds and ends, Blizzard

I love the site and all... but seriously... this is not a site for the trading card game.. it's a site for WoW the video game. If I wanted to find information on TCG, I'd look it up on a site that was designed for that.

Maybe a sister site for the TCG is in order?

I guess your not reading the comments. After yesterday's posting, i went back and read them all for the TCG. Its seems consistent that readers dont want this. On top of it, its seems to be confusing some readers who are happy that Blizzard has "patched" this and think these things are changes to the online game.

YES! It is valid so! I TRIED!
mathew Sep 19th 2006 12:39PM
no, i believe they did read it and they're just saying that even though the readers don't care for it and even though some of their writers don't care about it, screw all y'all - the tcg posts are staying.
for the record, i also believe these should be shuffled (pun intended) out of wowinsider. if people are really interested in cards and boardgames. i would also add that your odds and ends section is too big - it would benefit the site to review the content there and sub-categorize, i should think (especially since you're doing a screenshot of the day category now, which should have its own archive).

hmm, i lost a sentence there.
if people are really interested in cards and boardgames.. . should have been expanded to "perhaps it's time another weblog was added to the network to cover these interests"

Yes, I believe Mike did say they were listening to our concerns but added that they won’t remove the TCG coverage and that we should consider this as an extra service.
I already said that I don’t care about the WoW board game and that to me its something else. So I add my voice to those who wish it to disappear. Actually, I find that presenting an abstract of each card is quite lame. Sorry, if this turns out to be a flame. Otherwise, I love this site!

Pop Quiz insiders: how do you think they get funding for this site? Likely due to arrangements like this - advertisments for the TCG that happened to be aimed at the perfect targets, nerds like us.
Doug Sep 19th 2006 1:52PM
How many nerds like us will abandon out in-game time to play a TCG, where opponents will be few and far between, not to mention the cost the cards...
(Former avid MTG player who picked up WOW for above reasons)

Funding for this site? Are you kidding? I cannot say that you are totally off base, but honestly, the entire site's layout is an ad. I would hope that the content could be more focused around what the readers actually want to see, as they advertise enough in the space that isn't content.
That being said, I personally DO like the TCG reviews. I don't know if they should be a card description a day, because that is fairly annoying. I do, however, want to be reminded of the WoW TCG, as I am firmly intending on getting into it. Such a refreshing TCG system is well worth looking forward to for people burnt on Magic and Hecatomb. Perhaps a less intrusive approach of listing a few cards a week in one good solid post would attract less disdain. I put it almost on the level of the "leaked" talent trees. Would you have made a separate post about every talent or every tier. No. Just one good solid post covering the leak. I think the same sort of a refactoring is needed here.
But hey, that's just my 2¢.

You've got to be joking. "TCG" is in the title of every card game post. The actual post mentions cards, TCG and other context that makes it pretty clear what is being discussed. Anyone who confuses these posts for stuff being done in the actual online game should try re-reading them when they aren't high on who-knows-what.
