Burning Crusade Forums tidbits
A few tidbits about changes in the expansion have popped up in the forums...- Tseric says that certain Crowd Control abilities (of course no specifics yet) will be downgraded, if not disabled in Arena PVP. Spells like Polymorph or Sleep may have a 15-20 second duration when used in PVE, but only a 5-10 second duration in Arena PVP. This is meant to "prevent extended removal [of players] from combat."
- On a question about how PVP ranks will show in BC, Drysc says there will be a title menu in the UI, and that players will be able to choose up to their highest rank to display. He also says there will be more titles for Arena PVP, as well as other titles through "various other means." World PVP? PVE titles? Last names? Your guess is as good as ours.
- We've covered mount changes in 1.12.1 pretty extensively but in case you still have questions, Hortus has all the answers you need.
- A player asks if flying mounts will make players immune to attacks, but Neth says they haven't decided for sure yet. This was the first concern that came to mind when I saw the Druids' new flying form-- will Druids have an instant escape plan?
- Considering all the classes seem to be getting pets in the expansion, Eskar has an idea for what to give rogues.
- And can't remember where I heard this rumor (I'm thinking it was one of our esteemed commenters?), but rumor (only rumor!) has it Blizzard has dropped
the expansion pricethe game's price from $39.99 to $19.99** (updated-- see below). If that's true, it pretty much ensures that World of Warcraft will move from seven million players to something literally engulfing the known universe, thus creating some sort of new, superuniverse in which multidimensional beings shout jokes about Chuck Norris and Steve Irwin at each other while other beings yell at them to "stop spamming LFG."
Update: Our commenters, God bless 'em, have confirmed the price drop, kind of. Blizzard will be dropping the original game to the price of $19.99-- the expansion will be $39.99. But that still means the game will be cheaper than ever to play, which means we're probably due for all that multidimensional universe stuff. Plan 2007 accordingly.

Personally I need to get this out... Priest don't have pets, they have summonable DPS that can be targetted. Druids don't have pets, again they have summonable DPS that can be targetted. Shamans don't have pets, they have two totems which bring forth elementals that either defend or attack for you automatically. None of these guys actually gained a pet. Why? Because to have a pet you need to gain a command bar and have some ability to train your pet abilities. Plus the only pets which that have a time limit are the Infernal and Doomguard and that isn't because of a standard time limit like 30seconds but because of a control limit since they are extremely powerful demons.
The only class that is new to pets is the Mage but I would consider that a fairly well known rumor/guess that they were getting water elementals.
Sorry just everyone keeps calling these "summons" pets and pets are a different breed of playstyle then point and cast.

I still think there's an overemphasis of summoned creatures and hope they don't go ahead with it. Would be very messy in raids, even 25 game ones.
US$19.99? Why not. Would attract a whole bunch of people who gave up the game back. And 25 man raids would be easier to put together, and make guild management less of a strain.

You know, I think the idea is to spice up pvp more than raids. Considering that almost everyone is getting a summon/pet of some sort, the first 30 seconds of Arathi Basin when all summons are off cd is going to be fricken insane.

The price is for the original WoW, not BC. BC is still 40 bucks, but original is 20 bucks.

Sorry about the confusion earlier; the base price of World of Warcraft was lowered from $39.95 to $19.95 today (September 25, 2006) not the expansion.
The price of the expansion is still TBA, but best guesstimations is around the $30-50 range.

Having the expansion cost $40 is insane. Yeah, they can get away with it, but what's the last expansion to any game that cost you 80% of the original's price? Guess I'll be one of the few waiting on a price drop or a deal.

Here's a simple solution to keep the druid form from becoming an instant escape - make it have a casting time. Something on the order of 10 seconds. That'll keep em from using it during battle. And from the sounds of it, it'll be a travel-only form.

But it's not going to stop them from selling tons of tBC, especially around Christmas.

@ Sylythn
It does have a casting time, 3 seconds. I'm guessing, I don't know much about the status of flying mounts, but it sounds like a class ability to get a flying 'mount', much like 'locks and pallies get their class mounts. I'm sure they are tacking on a combination of a pain-in-the-butt quest and a hefty gold fee to get it.

Even if it was an instant cast, it wouldn't be a perfect escape method. In travel form you can still be slowed, dazed, stunned etc. If they make it so that if hit while in this form you change back to caster form... that would alleviate any thoughts of escaping in combat.
It would irritate the druid, yes... but he'd still have his instant cast flying form.

regarding the druid flying form.... iirc it is only at 60% move speed increase... you can keep up (at least horizontally) on a level 40 mount GG
Willferal Sep 26th 2006 2:25PM
Speaking of the druid's flying form, it is a 3 second cast. So, no, it's not an instant escape plan.
