Another hint at the Burning Crusade release date
Alert reader Elüna points out an interesting fact about the possible release date of the coming expansion -- the release date of the official Bradygames strategy guide. This isn't an avenue I'd thought to check before, but apparently the strategy guide is scheduled for a November 15th release. And while game release dates tend to be guessed at by retailers (hard to sell a pre-order without a release date!), I doubt that book release date information, from the official publisher, is done in quite the same fashion. So what do the rest of you think -- are we looking towards a mid-November expansion release? My magic 8-ball says "maybe!"Filed under: Expansions

What is sad is that these damn guides from Brady almost cost more then the game =(. It wouldn't be bad if for the fact that they're littered with spelling errors and grammar mistakes.

What sux is that these guides cost as much as the game. It wouldn't be such a slap in the face if they were actually QC'd - the original WoW guide had a ton of erros, spelling mistakes and grammar issues.

If Blizz really plans to cash in on the Holiday shopping season, a mid-November release would make the most sense. Thanksgiving weekend is when the shopping really hits high gear. Waiting until December might cause a drop in sales, as many people will already have done the bulk of their shopping, not to mention already blown through their shopping budget. Shoppers need a few days to be made aware that the game "little Johnny" wants is in, and can make the shopping list.

Bradygames' dates are not often accurate. And if there is an actual delay they don't update the information on their website regarding their guides... so I'm taking that one with a grain of salt.
On the other hand, EB and GameStop seem to be hinting at 28 November. Wonder if I could get it any faster if I took the short drive down to Irvine to get it from Blizzard directly? ^_~

Why would anyone buy a guide for a game that has so much online coverage like Thottbot, Alakhazam, and wowhead to name a few.

Lots of "erros". Good information though.
I figure I'll get it when I get it and until then I'm just going to enjoy the game I have and wait patiently.
Though it would be nice of BradyGames to do a spell and grammar check. Even MSWord would catch most of the errors from the first strat guide.
I don't figure that the two are as connected as we might believe. BradyGames can release the guide whenever they want and blizzard still may not release for weeks or Blizz releases next month and no guide for a month. Never really know for sure. I doubt there will be that big a split but it could happen in either direction.
This guy I know gave me a great deal (10-1 plus any extra in his pocket) to put my money in the pool for a release either today or sometime in the last two weeks.

I've seen many a strategy guide released *weeks* before the game, so I wouldn't take a guide's release date as necessarily indicating anything about the *game's* release date.

FYI - I saw the Bradley guide for FFXII this weekend at the mall and that is not due out until November. So the game guide release has nothing to do with the release date of the game.

And it is actual very beautifully. how many does such complete set cost?
Slughorn Sep 27th 2006 5:34PM
When working for EB Games, PC Strategy Guides would always come in a Week or 2 before the Game came out. This lends credence to the Nov. 22nd and 28th dates.
My money is on 22nd for the Black Friday Rush (The Friday Following Thanksgiving aka the busiest shopping day of the Year).

For your consideration...
This preview link was posted on the WoW site along with another preview. By posting this link on their site, Blizzard has ineffect confirmed that BC will not be released in November. Bi-tech.com
"Keep your eyes peeled for Burning Crusade, due for release sometime in December.

I would personally boycott any Brady Guide. They suck. If only DoubleJump books made a guide for WoW. Amazon.com is saying Nov. 22 for release date for BC? Hmm..
