Blizzard addressing mount concerns
When patch 1.12.1 rolled in this week, a new pricing system for mounts arrived as well. And, while they promised a seamless transition from one system to the next, a number of players have loudly complained that they're being forced to pay double for their mounts -- because if you purchased your mount before hitting level 40 or level 60, you would not be awarded the appropriate riding skill to use it, because of level restrictions on the riding skill itself. However, after a day of being told by GMs that this was "working as intended," Tseric has announced that a hotfix to be released early Thursday morning (via means of a 4:00 AM PDT rolling restart across all US realms) should fix the issue. (Though I'm still waiting for positive reports back on the forums before saying whether or not the issue is truly resolved.)Filed under: Patches

Uh oh. I'm jumping back on all my alts right now and buying the epic mount, just in case they're giving out free riding skills.

What about the people who are exalted with AV? Our total mount cost went up like 100g. Sure, we can buy other mounts now, but I dont care, I wanted my cheaper mount.

Damn, too late to exploit it if it realy was exploitable ;)
Mike, please tell us if it worked ...
This change made one guy in my guild pretty pissed. He managed not to notice that change was comming and saved up for the frostwolf mount, which would have been quite a bit cheaper than the normal mounts.

Hihi .. Blizzard is so damn stupid ;)
I thought when the patch came yesterday.. Man I'm fucked, I didn't buy the riding skill, but already had as a Warlock the Epicmount.
So .. patch came out.. I logged in.. And.. Tada.. I got Riding 150 written in my Skill pane... making my mind come to things like .. "wtf? I have never ever seen a normal Mount from the near distance, and now I got one for 80g?" .. really cool stuff ;) thanks blizz
greetings Draghkar

The coolest part was getting the Stormpike Battle Ram for about 8g. I already had my epic mount so I automatically got the 150 riding skill and I already was exalted with Stormpike. I flew into Southshore and picked it up last night. I'm a happy rogue.

Well, never mind. I just logged in, and had bought all my characters epic mounts, but they still only have the Apprentice riding skill, not the Journeyman one. Guess I have to keep saving like all the regular people. :)
Which makes me wonder what exactly the hotfix did...

the ram mounts are retarded looking. Frostwolf FTW.

Mike Schramm, if you bouught your mounts AFTER the first patch but BEFORE the Hotfix, you won't get credit. The orignal announcement about the Hotfix said that the only people who would get the riding skill were people who had the mount in their inventory BEFORE the 1.12.1 patch.
