I've got a friend with parents just like this. They complain all day about how much he plays the game, but do nothing about it. It's literally tearing their family apart. Unplug the internet! Take his computer! Parents need to start taking responsibility for their own children.
Furthermore, saying this is the "tip of the iceberg" is not how I would put it, because it's the small number of hardcore players that play as much as this kid. Most are casual players, like me, who play 1-2 hours per day. And oh, wait, how much does the average American spend per day watching TV?
