Breakfast Topic: Are You Buying The Collector's Edition?
We know what's in the box. We have a pretty good idea how much it will cost. Other than not having any idea when it will actually be released, we are all set. So, the question is, is the Burning Crusade Collector's Edition going to be under your arm come release day, or will you be opting for it's cheaper, smaller boxed cousin? Personally, I am going for the Collector's Edition. Why? I don't really know. It is not like I have spent hours and hours getting massive enjoyment out of my Warcraft 3 or World of Warcraft Collector's editions. Sure, they look OK on the shelf, I might flip through the art book once or twice, and maybe mess around with the in-game pet, but that is about it. Strangely, I don't regret buying either of them. Being the super-geek that I am, I just like knowing I have them. So I will buy the Burning Crusade Collector's edition, and be happy I did. Besides, I am marginally interested in the card game, so that makes it a little more worthwhile for me. And the mouse pad and in-game pet sound kind of cool as well.
What about you guys? Are you going for the CE? Or is an extra thirty dollars not worth the treasures in the box?

$80!? I was thinking it was going to be like $65...I was thinking about getting the Collector's but now I don't know if the "extras" are worth $80! IDK I am going to wait and see when they finially set a release date and pricing. I would like the Collector's but it doesn't really matter in the long run. The new pet will be cool for awhile but I always destory or sell my pets after awhile...I hate having to constantly recall them. Like I said IDK, yet.

Collecters edition - definitely. Pet, mousepad, book (as per previous poster) :p

I'm think I'm the only one to say that, but no, I'm not going to buy it. I don't care about the Card Game, I never look at my mouse pad, I never use the pets and find them useless, also hundred of thousands players will have them so it's not like if it's unique are rare. The Music CD, Making of DVD and Art work book could be nice to watch and listen at 1-2 times but that's about it.
So the extras don't interest me. Also, I got to buy 2 copy because my wife also plays... that's where my money will go. It's more valuable to me to play with her than having a Map Mouse pad... If I want a map, I'll find one and print it! If I want a Pet (and I don't!) I'll grab one from a vendor, AH or quest reward.
But... I'm gonna buy it the day of the release, and I can't wait to get it!
Cheer,
Undying

Definately will be purchasing, just as long as there are enough to go around.

I've been addicted to a CCG before...and I do not want the temptation to go there again! A new set every month, tons of money spent into buying pack after pack trying to get the right balance of cards - and the tournament winners are the decks that take advantage of game design flaws...not the ones that hold true to the spirit of the game or are fun to play. I've pre-ordered the original (once hopefully...with the major change in dates, I might have put my name down at two stores...oops) - but I'm not going for the collectors edition.
Besides, I haven't even hit my first level 60 yet...so most of the content won't be for me for a while yet.

I wouldn't mind the pet, but forget the rest of that junk.
I'll just take the small cheap one please.
Mary Oct 5th 2006 9:22AM
I won't buy it. I don't find any advantages of collector's edition
Lance Oct 5th 2006 9:31AM
My dilemma stems from the same problem as Undying's. I need to buy a copy for my significant as well, but I know that neither of us would be happy with only one CE between us. I guess I'll just have to consider it a bit of a splurge, and delay my dual-zBoard purchases. ;)

Yes.
And one more to sell on eBay in a year.

my wife considers me too much of a geek as it is
Jake Oct 5th 2006 10:09AM

Aaron Oct 5th 2006 10:20AM
Yes, I'm getting the CE.
My base account was started with the first CE so I would like to keep up the tradition, so to speak.

I bought the collectors edition of Warcraft III and after flipping thru the book a couple of times and watching the DVD once I never touched it again. I don't even want to buy a regular box. I really want to just download it and play. Media is so 20th century.
Gamerz22 Oct 5th 2006 10:54AM
I'll buy it, if the price is lower than $80. $60 or $50 will work... :P
The artbook, behind the scenes dvd, cd/dvd cds, and soundtrack is what I see cool :) The pet and the mousepad is like a "ok" but wouldn't kill or put effort into grabbing them... the TCG cards I do not care about, thoguh curiousity means they are neat.
vlad3060 Oct 5th 2006 11:19AM
I'm going to purchase the CE, mainly for the music/DVD and the pet.
I'm going to sell off the mousepad and the CGC packets.
Now if I can only find a website that will take pre-orders before the other players who want the CE do.
Slughorn Oct 5th 2006 12:06PM
100% Yes.
Netherwhelp.
Soundtrack.
Art Book.
That's all i needed to buy it. The DVD, Mousepad, Trading cards and Killer Box seal the deal.
