Priests & racial abilities
Priests are an unusual class -- the only class in the game to have class spess that are restricted to specific races. This has long been the source of complaints, as some racial abilities are immensely useful (such as a Dwarf's Fear Ward, which prevents its target from being feared and can make a number of raid situations easier), while others aren't worth putting on even a tertiary hotbar (such as a Human's Feedback, which restores mana to the priest on melee hit -- melee priest ftw!). As a long time priest, my biggest question about the coming expansion is this: what sort of class racials will Draenei and Blood Elf priests have? Well, CM Eyonix has provided me with a partial answer -- saying that the new races will receive one existing and one brand new racial skill. (Hmm, does the Blood Elves' new racial start with "fear" and end with "ward"? If so I'm already well on my way to having a third priest on my account!)Filed under: Priest, Expansions

It should perhaps be noted that Feedback was significantly changed in 1.10 and is now slightly less of a laugh! "The priest becomes surrounded with anti-magic energy. Any successful spell cast against the priest will burn 18 of the attacker's Mana, causing 1 Shadow damage for each point of Mana burned. Lasts 15 sec."
Not exactly WotF though!

If the BE's get Fear ward and the Draenei get WoF that would be just stupid. BE should get DP and Draenei should get one of the Troll spells (Hex or shadowgaurd) for it to make any sense.

1. Indeed, feedback is way different than you described now, and has nothing to do with melee attacks. Basically now it makes anybody who casts a spell against you take both health and mana damage for a few seconds. Even at max rank, though, the damage is low (100-ish, I believe), and the mana cost is fairly high. But I've found a few specific times I like to use it.
2. I wouldn't mind BEs getting Fear Ward. It would not hurt game balance to give this option to both factions, as raid balance is the most important thing Blizz should focus on as far as balance in the expansion.
3. Draenei won't get WotF, though. Not only is it really unnecessary, but it's hard to give a forsaken will to somebody who is... well... not forsaken.

If Blood Elves get fear ward there will be uproar from the other Horde priest. The good thing about being a horde priest at the moment is that you don't have to choose a specific race to have the advantage, as you do in the alliance. (fear ward vs. elunes grace hmmm...)
Frankly the racial skills are too messed up and unbalanced at the moment, it's unfair that you are slightly disadvantaged if you like to play a troll or night elf priest.

The other posters are correct with regards to feedback -- it's been months since I've played my human priest, so my memory slipped.

You are aware that WotF is not a Priest racial skill its an Undead racial right? All Undead have WotF not just the Priests.

It only makes sense to have races with different racial abilities. I don't like cookie cutters unless I'm baking.... and I don't bake.

But remember that the fear ward will not be as important now when both Horde and Alliance gets Shammans with their totems...
