Breakfast Topic: Biggest Fanboy Moment

It is one thing to really like a game. You play it, you enjoy it and then you move on. It is something else entirely to be a fanboy. I am, without a doubt, a Blizzard fanboy. How do I know for sure? My Diablo II experience made it quite clear...

When I was a twenty year old undergrad I had a really, really slow PC. It was good enough for Warcraft II and Starcraft, but not nearly good enough for Diablo 2. However, my girlfriend of three years had an amazing new PC which would run Diablo 2 smoothly. The only issue? I was totally sick of her and ready to break up. Well, instead of taking the moral high ground and breaking up with her and living without Diablo 2, I decided to stay with her another week or so and play some Diablo.

One week turned into two, which turned into a month, which turned into two, or...err...three. I would show up at her apartment under the guise of seeking some air conditioning (which she had and I didn't), socialize for about 5 minutes then sit at her PC for hours on end. I am sure she was terribly impressed. Then I got my financial aid check in September, bought a new PC and made plans to dump her. Oddly enough she broke up with me before I got a chance to break up with her. I can't imagine why she'd want to dump her Diablo 2 playing mooch boyfriend. And yes, I know I was a huge jerk and an even bigger lame geek. You don't need to remind me. Thankfully, for both me and my wife, I have long since left that kind of behavior behind.

Have you gone to great extremes for a Blizzard product? Would you call yourself a fanboy? Any good stories?
