More jewelcrafting rumors
Because just one set of rumored items just isn't enough, today I bring you even more possibly real, possibly fake, jewelcrafting items. Noggyh on the World of Raids forums has posted a list of some very interesting new trinkets, necklaces, and rings. And, wow, some of these things look awfully nice. (Which probably just means they'll take ten of each of the rarest jewels to craft, I assume.) Chance on spell hit to restore 128-173 mana to the bearer? Looks like I'm going to be adding several new trinkets to my collection...Trinkets

So since these are all BoP, that means that only jewelcrafters can use them. Awesome?

awesome .. no..
Blizzard needs to really really really revamp professions.
The only way at the moment to make money out of non-gathering professions is simply to be the only person on the whole server who can do something (or one of a few).
The second some more ppl get a recipe, things are done and there are always people crafting stuff for totally strangers for free.. (Or .. Hey, that guy from that guild there I know sent me to you telling me you're able to craft me for free..)
And,.. I think jewelcrafting will have the same problem.
A whole bunch of ppl will pick up jewelcrafting (as will I do) and that will make raw materials really expensive on the auction house.
So .. gathering professions will make a ton of money .. while .. The jewel crafters will be at max level after a short period of time.. and.. kaboom.. jewelcrafters will have invested huge amounts of money to train that thing, but will get nothing in return for they craft.
Simply said.. I think I'll go quite well with doing Mining and Herbalism .. On the other hand.. somewhere I did read that Jewelcrafters mining normal Ore-spots will recieve their gems from there.. so we are all fucked up again because you can only find raw-mats for jewelcrafting if you have the Mining/Jewelcrafting combo .. and that's tough if you still need to farm a ton of herbs for your raids and stuff ..
damn .. i want that expansion to come out so I can see for myself :(

Actually no you dont need Minning/Jewelcrafting to get the "raw materials" you need for Jewelcrafting. Jewelcrafters use ORE to make the jewels they use for crafting... I dont believe the small smattering of Gems we find now will really be that important to Jewcrafting other than maybe in rare patterns. So as a Jewelcrafter you can buy raw Mats of the AH just like every other craft(though it would be insanely expensive to lvl just after the expansion comes out without minning your own mats). This just Means that Mining/Gathering Skill 2 will become even more wealthy. Expecially right after the expansion... Ive been saving up ore... not to jewelcraft with but to sell baby! Im going to make a killing!

Prospecting: Jewelcrafting (20) turn 5 raw ore into a grey item of dust and some gems. Each ore has a required level in jewelcrafting before you can try. So far tin is yeilding 1-2 gems per hit, both moonstones and mossagates.
Shadowgems and silver are important for the 90-125 range of skill.
Despite all rumors to the outside the normal gems from mining will still be necessary, as will stone, ore and pearls.
